Maybe I’m behind the times but I honestly had to look up who [easyazon_link identifier=”B00004XR64″ locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Aaron Carter[/easyazon_link] was before sitting down to write this article. What I found out was that his claim to fame has more to do with his brother and recent arrest than it does with anything else that could be called recent. The anxiety-ridden “star” was arrested on DUI charges in a local Autozone store in Georgia while on his way to performance in Kansas City.
Yes, he was driving himself to a performance despite being that popular and that famous apparently. But the real issue is that he was apprehended by police and given a DUI after failing to accept a breathalyzer test and a search that found less than an ounce of marijuana and other drug-related items on him. Aaron was taken into custody despite the fact that his reps continually state that he was not in the car and that his fame is why he was targeted for arrest.
Apologies, my brain is attempting to short circuit as I deal with arduous task of finding out just why he’s so popular still. He did produce a few hit singles in the early 2000’s and he is the brother of [easyazon_link identifier=”B00136Q54A” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Backstreet Boys[/easyazon_link] singer Nick Carter. Beyond that, really, I’m not even sure if he still qualifies as B-list on the celebrity scale. But let’s take a crack at just why he’s still relevant.
TMZ has been all over his arrest and publicized it for everyone to see.
It might be unkind but TMZ seems like the last bastion for celebrities that are either hanging onto the bottom rung or are simply too dim to realize that the world is eventually passing them by. Aaron Carter is shouting as loud as he can to anyone and everyone who will listen, meaning his small cadre of fans and TMZ of course, that he is innocent and was targeted because he is a celebrity. News flash, most celebrities will at least take a breathalyzer test to see whether or not they’re actually guilty of a DUI or not. Even if you’re not in the car at the moment, the fact is that you were in the car before they managed to bust you. And the surveillance his people are screaming about could be easily offset by police surveillance that shows him driving in an inebriated state if was to fail the breathalyzer. But then he didn’t take it did he? Innocent folks are usually ready to prove their innocence.
He admitted to being bisexual to his fans and family.
I might be impressed if this was ten to twenty years ago. Of course he was still a kid then despite how he claims that he was attracted to both genders at that time. Then it might not have been as acceptable. But now? Now it seems as though his popularity is fading and he needs something to boost him up. Yes I did. I as much said that he’s banking on his sexual preferences to retain even a shred of popularity. Why wouldn’t he come out sooner when the LGBTQ movement really got started? It would have made a lot more sense and could have kept him relevant for much longer.
If you had to look up the name [easyazon_link identifier=”B0000DYVRR” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Aaron Carter[/easyazon_link] like I did don’t feel too bad. It’s not as big of a name as he likes to think it is.
