Kim Plath is a reality television star, but she’s not on social media. It’s almost unheard of to imagine someone who films television choosing not to participate in the game-changing social media generation but wasn’t having any of it. Of course, Kim Plath might always change her mind about using social media, but for now, she’s good just living her life on the television screens of her fans. The TLC star has a story to tell, and she chooses to do so on television. But, what is the story she’s telling? Her life is changing quickly, and we can’t keep up. Kim Plath may not be ready to tackle the ‘gram, but she’s tackling just about everything else in life.
Who is Kim Plath?
Not everyone is into the highly niche programming TLC offers. It’s a little off the beaten path, and it isn’t always the same path other reality television show watchers want to take. Kim Plath is married to Barry Plath. The Plaths have ten children, but they lost one son in a horrible accident when the young boy was only one. It was the most difficult time in their lives. The couple wed in 1997, and they have a family band; she works as a doctor of the naturopathic variety. Their reality show features the family doing what they do best: spending their life together. However, the world was shocked to find out that the couple announced the end of their marriage in June 2022.
Why is Kim Plath’s Marriage Ending?
The Welcome to Plathville star is a mom of nine living children. When she first began sharing her family’s life on television, it was almost ironic. The point of their childhood and the way they were raised was to keep the kids from mainstream distractions. They didn’t listen to mainstream music. They did not watch regular television. They did not use the internet. Their entire life was sheltered, and they didn’t have access to those things. Barry and Kim Plath felt they were protecting their kids by not welcoming these things into their lives, but their lives have changed. We aren’t sure what they thought might happen when they went from not allowing their kids to use the internet to becoming reality television stars, but to each his own.

With major changes like this one, the Plath family has suffered. Kim, for example, is working. She’s working outside of her home, and she has less time for her former duties as a wife and a mother. It’s taken a toll on her marriage, but we don’t know whose idea it was to separate. As a religious family, both Kim and Barry Plath have said more than once that marriage is forever. However, after 24 years of marriage, the couple made a joint announcement that their marriage was over, they were going through with their divorce, and they would work together to remain parents to their children.
Kim Plath is Making Big Life Changes
It’s hard to judge Kim Plath and the changes she’s making in her life. She seems like a woman hellbent on shaping a future for herself. After being little more than a wife and mother for a quarter of a century, she’s doing a lot for herself. Plath opened her own dance studio, and she loves it. She’s also getting in shape. She’s been hitting the gym hard, and we have a feeling she’s just getting started. We certainly don’t want to speculate, but she does seem like a woman who is living her own life the way she wants to for the first time in a very long time. Being a parent to so many kids, losing a child, homeschooling nine kids, and not working outside the home sounds like it might take a toll on a woman. Kim Plath seems to be making positive changes in her life, and it’s difficult not to cheer her on.

In addition to her new workouts and her new dance studio, Kim Plath did a little shopping. She’s ditched her dated wardrobe. She’s moving on, and she’s even sampling clothes her more daring daughters approve of. Fans of the show want to know if Kim Plath is serious about her divorce and living a new life on her own terms, and it seems like the answer is a resounding yes. She’s made changes, and she seems happy in her life. Only time will tell, of course, but she seems happier, lighter, and more open to living a freer and more exciting life than she has in the past. Good for Kim.
