The Duttons’ Unyielding Spirit in Season 4
Despite the seemingly hopeless conclusion of season 3, season 4 has proven just how resilient and tenacious the Dutton family truly is. Beth Dutton, in particular, demonstrates her ability to be as forceful and vindictive as her father and brothers. After the events of season three, where John Dutton was shot multiple times, Kayce was involved in a shootout, and Beth’s office was blown up, it seemed as though the Duttons’ enemies had finally triumphed. However, the Duttons are not so easily defeated, and the aftermath of these events has shown their unyielding spirit.
Repercussions and Retaliation
As the dust settles, we see the Duttons’ determination to fight back. Rip finds John and gets him to the hospital, while Kayce, a trained soldier, clears his office and goes after the men who shot his father. Even after being shot himself, Kayce helps eliminate the armed threat before being taken to the hospital. The ranch isn’t safe either, as the company that sent their hired killers after the Duttons threatens their home and burns down Rip and Beth’s cabin. This act of aggression demands a response, and John is more than willing to deliver it, even before he’s fully healed.
Unraveling Secrets and Alliances
Meanwhile, Thomas Rainwater’s right-hand man overhears a loudmouth in the casino talking about the altercation with the Duttons, leading to a brutal Q & A to determine the truth behind his claims. Jimmy’s decision to go back on his word and return to the rodeo circuit results in him being injured once again. John decides to ship Jimmy out, even though he’s still responsible for his care. This decision is influenced by Jimmy’s girlfriend, who disapproves of the ranch hands being branded and believes Jimmy should follow his own passion in life. It remains to be seen how much we’ll see of Jimmy this season, but his character has been a solid addition to the show, and fans hope he sticks around.
Jamie Dutton’s Dangerous Path
Jamie Dutton is another character who may be facing the consequences of his actions. He’s still a suspect in the attacks on his family, and his decision to side with his biological father against the Duttons seems like a risky move. His father’s apparent lack of loyalty to anyone could explain Jamie’s own behavior, and it’s possible that some traits are inherited and difficult to overcome. Chief Thomas Rainwater doesn’t trust the chairwoman from Time Equities or her associates, and he’s able to see through her offer, though he has yet to give a reply. He knows that if the company is willing to attack the Duttons so viciously, his people could be next.
Season 4’s Intricate Storylines
There are many moving parts in the first two episodes of season 4, but the storylines are woven together seamlessly, making it easy for viewers to follow the unfolding drama. Roarke, the fly-fishing exec from Time Equities, meets a grisly end at the hands of Rip, who uses a rattlesnake as a weapon. Fans may not be too upset about Roarke’s demise, and it’s intriguing to consider what might be in store for Willa and the rest of the Time Equities team, especially since John is adamant about eliminating them all. Season 4 is already shaping up to be an intense ride, and fans who have been following the story are eagerly anticipating what’s to come.
