Wonho is a former member of the K-pop band Monsta X. He has made the news recently because of a series of controversies and allegations of drug use and theft. The young band member has recently made his announcement along with apologies, much to the dismay of loyal fans. 1. Wonho rose to fame as a member of the group Monsta X
Before joining the insanely popular band, Wonho was unknown. It was when the group signed with Epic, a Los Angeles record label that their music became well known throughout the world and highly popular. As a part of the band, he enjoyed his fair share of fame and his growing fan base. The group is extremely popular, but Wonho also has his admirers who would follow him whether he was with the band or not.
2. He is currently involved in a huge controversy
The announcement was just made on October 31, 2019, that Wonho has left the boy band, Monsta X. The reason for his departure is because of a series of allegations which have been made about him and one of the other band members named Shownu. His accusers are actress Jung Da Eun and former idol trainee Han Seo Hee. Jung claims that Wonho owes her money and that he has stolen personal items from her and sold them.
3. Han disclosed information about Wonho’s past
It has yet to be confirmed, but Han revealed some personal information about Wonho that has had a damaging effect on his status with the band. The first thing claimed is that his real name is Lee Ho-seok. It was under this name that he was placed in juvenile detention when he was a teenager.
4. Wonho has been accused of using illegal drugs
There were further claims made that Wonho and Jung smoked marijuana in 2013. Although this was six years ago, it’s information that suggests that he broke the law and committed a crime. In South Korea, recreational marijuana use is banned. Wonho is now 26 years of age and this would make him 20 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
5. The allegations caused issues with Starship Entertainment
Starship Entertainment is the management agency in charge of Monsta X. After the allegations were made public, they called him in for a private meeting. After discussing the events and their options, it was decided that the group and Wonho would part ways in an amicable agreement. the agency issued a statement after the meeting that let the world know that it was official and that Wonho would be leaving the group.
6. Fans are not happy about the news
Wonho has his share of fans and they’re not taking the news of his leaving lightly. Some are blaming Starship Entertainment for breaking their ties with the young singer. Many fans share the sentiment that the management agency should have protected him instead of giving him the ax. In Singapore, fans are calling for him to come back to the group and there has even been a petition circulated to have him reinstated by the management agency. His fan base is currently in shock, but there is a large group of his followers who are being vocal and taking action about what they perceive to be the poor treatment of their music idol.
7. Starship has responded to fans concerns
The management agency gave their reassurance to the world that they have a measure of respect for Wonho, and that he made the decision to protect the other members of the group from the backlash of what could happen as the result of the allegations leveled at him. One thing that fans need to be aware of is the fact that Starship plans to continue their pursuit of legal action for those who make malicious claims against Wonho. This is in a way, protecting his reputation for further malignment.
8. Starship Entertainment has already debunked a false claim
When Han accused the other member of the band of having an affair with a married woman, Starship Entertainment got right on it. They contacted the parties involved and confirmed that Shownu has had no contact with the woman after she was married. The woman’s husband even contacted the agency to give them clarification on the matter. With the information that the man provided they were able to confirm that Shownu had not done what Han accused him of doing.
9. Wonho is apologetic to fans
Wonho is not disregarding the feelings of his fans in light of the recent news that has broken. He posted a picture and wrote a letter to fans and in the message, he apologized to Monsta X members, the staff and to his fans. Based upon what he wrote, Wonho acknowledged that he has made a lot of mistakes throughout his life and that when he was younger he was immature. These are the things that led to his current situation. He went further to state that after he became a trainee and made his debut, hie worked hard to avoid bringing shame on himself and he stayed on track. It’s a shame that a person’s past behaviors can have such a devastating impact on their careers.
10. Jung is still firing at Wonho even though he’s leaving the band
The band is going to continue as a six-piece group. Jung made a post on Instagram claiming that Wonho destroyed his own life a long time ago. Jung is the principal instigator of the trouble and as such he is receiving the blame for the situation. Making posts like this is not going to win any popularity contests for him because fans have already made up their minds and they want to see Wonho reinstated back into the group. There is a lot of love and support for Wonho and it’s not a good idea to continue to smear his name, especially when his admirers are likely to see it.
