Lily Mo Sheen might not be following exactly in her mother’s footsteps but she’s definitely following the same path that Kate Beckinsale walked at one point. The 19-year old actress has already been shared with most of the world thanks to her mom’s need to post photos and updates about her daughter throughout the years. It’s not a bad thing really since Kate is immensely proud of her daughter and no doubt wants the best for her. But obviously her posts have gotten her into trouble a time or two with Lily and the young woman hasn’t been hesitant to say something about it. That seems to be the nature of many child/parent interactions however, especially when a child becomes old enough to feel confident to confront their parents with certain things. But for the most part Lily and her mom seem to get along just fine and the fact that her mother and her father, Michael Sheen, aren’t together isn’t as much of a problem as it could be.
As far as walking in Kate’s footsteps she kind of is and isn’t.
She’s been in a couple of movies with her mom.
Lily has been put into a couple of movies that have featured her mom but they never got to act side by side. Instead Lily has been cast as a character from the past tense. In Click she’s part of a group of kids that decides to spend their time in an RV watching TV rather than make their way over to another friend’s tent where it’s a little more lo-tech and not quite as fun. Her role in Underworld: Evolution was as the younger version of her mother, who was present when the prison was being built for Marcus’ brother, William, and was seen holding the key that has been a part of the story since the beginning. So she has acted in the same films as her mother but has yet to act WITH her mother. Right now it seems as though she’s trying to find her way forward with the help of those around her but is not taking the same route that her mother did, at least not exactly.
She has the same attitude and poise of her mother.
Lily does have her own look and persona but she is still the spitting image of her mother in many ways since she also has the kind of attitude that says that she can be a very nice person but does have her limits. In front of the camera however she is every bit as polished and poised as her mother, which makes a person think that she either takes after Kate on her own or that Kate has been training her daughter in some way to be the proper little lady that she wants her to be. The lessons might have rubbed off on Lily but there’s still evidence that she’s every bit her own person and is bound to take control of her own life. Following a parent’s example after all is great but it’s also something that still needs a touch of individualism now and again to make it any kind of life for the person that’s trying to live it. While it’s unknown as of yet if she’s going to lean towards being a famous actress like her mother or if she’ll take a different approach it’s been seen so far that Lily has been doing things her way and is seeking her own path, which is a good thing to see.
She hasn’t starred in a movie since 2009.
This is one big argument as to why she might not be following in her mother’s footsteps but it also comes with a counter since at that time she was still very young and there was no doubt that many people that allow their children to act at such an age would rather they stick with their schooling than become a career actor. There is nothing wrong with being a child actor but the burnout rate tends to be a little greater sometimes and the stress that goes with it can be quite horrendous when it comes to how the child deals with it. So really it could have been that her parents didn’t want her to focus too much on acting and instead pulled her, or it could have been that she didn’t want to do it anymore and told them as much. In any case she hasn’t showed up in a movie since then and whether or not she wants to now is still highly debatable since there haven’t been any overt announcements that have stated as much.
Whatever direction she goes in Lily is bound to find happiness so long as it’s her own. Following in her mother’s footsteps wouldn’t be the worst idea, but taking her own path would be a lot more satisfying.
