Olivia Munn Receives IMDb “Fan-Favorite” STARmeter Award At SDCC

On the morning of July 19, film and television star Olivia Munn receives the IMDb STARMeter “Fan-Favourite” award. It recognizes entertainment industry luminaries chosen as fan-favorites on IMDbPro’s STARmeter chart. In addition, the process uses the actual search behaviour of more than 250 million unique monthly IMDb visitors worldwide. Col Needham, CEO and founder of IMDb, presented Munn with the award at IMDb’s third annual IMDboat. Munn graciously accepted, thanking Needham, IMDb, and of course, her adoring fans.

“Thank you so much!” Munn said, addressing the cheering crowd. “This is truly the coolest thing.” Munn went on to say. Munn then stated that the fans have been everything to her. It’s the reason why she is able to make the transition from a co-host on Attack of the Show on G4, an American cable channel owned by NBCUniversal, to the other side of the camera. She reminisced about the first time she got onto the online database for film, television, and video games. “It was just the coolest thing that my name was on IMDb,” Munn gushed. “So to go from there [to this moment] is really really cool.” Munn thanked her fans and IMDb once again before posing for photos alongside Needham and Kevin Smith.

The SIX‘s leading lady is attending the world’s largest convention to promote her upcoming science-fiction thriller The Predator, set to grace the silver screen on September 14th. The film is the fourth installment (six if you include the Alien and Predator films) of the series, building on the franchise that starred the Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Munn plays Casey Bracket, a disgruntled science teacher and biologist who joins the crew’s mission to save Earth and its inhabitants from falling victim to the Predators.

On a side note, Munn recently served as a guest judge on the hit summer talent series America’s Got Talent, now in its thirteenth season (you can read about it here). She sent the Los Angeles-based choir through to the live shows by pressing the Golden Buzzer.
