Chuck Lorre has managed to be part of a lot of different shows in the past and he’s done very well to be honest. His TV productions have been well-received by audiences far and wide and have gone on to become popular, well-known sitcoms that people have found themselves getting hooked on either for the story, the actors, or both. There have been a few hiccups along the way no doubt but for the most part his shows have managed to wow people and have given them something that they simply can’t do without any longer. People will always want to be entertained in one way or another, and it’s up to those like Lorre to give them what they’re asking for, or create something they didn’t know they wanted with the intent to meet the needs they didn’t speak about.
Those shows on this list are those that many different people can relate to and don’t lean towards just one demographic or the other. That’s the special part about Lorre’s shows and the subjects they cover, which are varied throughout each program. The subject matter his shows take on is easy for people to relate to since many folks can watch the shows and say “I’ve been there.”. Connecting with the audience on that level is impressive since it means that those in charge are really paying attention to the people and can understand what they will enjoy. So without any further adieu, here are a few of the shows that Chuck Lorre can take credit for that we’ve enjoyed over the years.
5. Roseanne
Roseanne was a favorite show of many since it depicted a middle to lower-class working family that had a wide variety of issues, three kids that were almost always in need of something, a sister that was almost fully neurotic and couldn’t seem to get her life in order, and a couple that loved one another but had their own issues. People related to Roseanne quite a bit since the show didn’t do or say anything so out of control that they felt as though they were coming from a completely different perspective. This was the working person’s show and it was enjoyable because it dealt mostly with family and until it’s revival didn’t worry so much about politics. Unfortunately with a bad tweet, Roseanne Barr managed to get the reboot canceled after only one season.
4. Two and a Half Men
This was a step beyond the norm for many people since not a lot of folks have an insanely rich brother that would allow them to stay in their house, with a kid no less. Plus, Charlie’s antics and alcoholism, which was fully on display throughout the show, didn’t sit well with a lot of people. But despite that it still got the ratings because it was hilarious and somehow spoke to people on a level that they understood, even if the lifestyles and situations weren’t always entirely realistic. This was a show that thrived mostly on the escapism it offered, despite the realism it tried to interject at certain moments.
3. Mom
This show feels like it should have been a lot more depressing than it turned out. Of course if it had been all drama and no comedy then it might not have done as well. Anna Faris and Allison Janney played mother and daughter and it was a great matchup as they went back and forth with each other. The idea of having a mother, a single mother no less, that leaves a lot to be desired when it comes her job, her past, and the way she deals with her kids, is nothing new to some people, but making it funny at least takes away part of the sting if not all of it.
2. Dharma & Greg
When it comes to opposites there haven’t been a lot that could match the opposing ideals of Dharma and Greg. Born and raised as a free spirit, Dharma kind of embodies what it means to live with absolute freedom and not a care in the world. Greg on the other hand is about as straight-laced and uptight as can be in relation to Dharma. And yet somehow these two met, fell in love, and got married, thereby creating a show that was quite hilarious during its run but would eventually succumb to the onset of other shows since it couldn’t quite keep up. It was a fun show while it lasted though.
1. The Big Bang Theory
This show had a lot of people rolling and even managed to kick start the careers of a few of its stars as it became a favorite among many audience members. You kind of have to be a fan to really get into it, but if you are then you know what draws you to the show and why you continue to like it. The show isn’t just for intellectuals that understand what’s being discussed at all times, but there is content that can leave some people in the dust if they don’t understand it.
There have been other shows that have done just as well, but these are just a few that have done particularly well in their time on the air.
