Five Facts You Didn’t Know about Brett Gelman

It’s amazing when looking at Brett Gelman’s accomplishments that few people know about him enough to really talk about him. Those that watch Adult Swim and those that pay attention to lesser known shows and movies that feature talents that should be in the mainstream might know about him. But to others he might be the crazy guy from the second season of Stranger Things and little else. It goes to show that there are different levels of celebrity status if not talent. Gelman has certainly shown that he’s worth bringing into the mainstream but so far it seems that he’s only been brought in on a temporary basis now and again unless someone finds him a part that he can truly rock.

He was good in the second season of Stranger Things.

5. He was in Stranger Things.

Murray Bauman only showed up in four episodes but his impact was felt pretty heavily since he brought to the attention of the audience another perspective that might have some bearing on the show. Of course everyone thought he was a crazy recluse that didn’t know as much as he was letting on but that was kind of the point. The shot of him at the end of the season waving at the soldiers as they finally exit the lab grounds is pretty funny.

4. His resume is pretty extensive.

He has done a LOT when it comes to TV, and his movie resume isn’t too shabby either. To think that he’s done all this and hasn’t gained the kind of recognition he probably deserves by now is kind of hard to fathom, but then again with as many actors as there are out there it’s not that hard. There are so many actors walking the earth right now that are begging for a shot at anything that even established names like Gelman might have trouble finding the parts they want.

3. He got his start in 2004.

It seems like a lot of people got their start in this year as many upon many actors seem to have this year on their bio as the year they became active in the industry. It makes one think that perhaps 2004 was a year that Hollywood figured was good for a new crop of talent to be brought in.

2. He was part of the Upright Citizens Brigade.

There have been a lot of actors that have gone through this improv group and it seems to have helped their career immensely. There’s no doubt it helps them to think on the fly and to react when needed without faltering as much. That kind of training is something that’s worth its weight in gold to be honest.

1. He performed with Jon Daly as a duo called Cracked Out.

This is just one of the acts that he performed in for a while, and it was a comedic rap duo that he seemed to do quite well with. Looking at him you wouldn’t really think that he would be capable of laying down a beat, but then you shouldn’t judge a book by the cover either. He’s made a lot of headway in his career, and it’s been by making people believe that he CAN do whatever he attempts.

Seriously, don’t doubt someone based on their looks.
