Hootie and the Blowfish are going to be reuniting for the Jason Aldean Concert this coming July. For those fans that are already getting excited try to keep it tamped down because it’s only going to be a one-night thing to kick off the show. It’s a little confusing since they did get back together in 2015 for the David Letterman show but then went on hiatus. That seems a bit unfair to fans really since it might confuse people just a little to wonder if the band is getting back together or if they’re just going to tease people with a concert here and there in order to bump up their sales before they decide to take a break again.
It’s hard to blame Hootie and the Blowfish since they’ve been a rather popular band since the came to the mainstream in the early 90’s. They’ve been around long enough that people have become genuine fans and would like to see them back for good, but as of right now Darius Rucker has announced that the band will get back together. That’s very confusing since for the Aldean concert they’re only doing the opener and then perhaps going back on hiatus. Whether or not they’ll be getting back together this year is hard to say since there’s not a whole lot of news circulating on the subject and their names only seem to come up now and again when they’re connected to a performance or a charity, which they are very into.
Hootie and the Blowfish were an extremely popular band in the 90’s, but like all bands kind of faded as the 90’s ended and the 21st century came calling. They maintained their fan base for a while but when Rucker went on to a solo career as a country artist they had to take a hiatus. You could say that he did something or you could say that he didn’t do nearly as much as he did when he was in the band, but Rucker has been adamant that the band will be getting back together. It’s just a matter of when and whether or not they’re going to be willing to tell someone when that is. It’s kind of frustrating really when you’re expecting a band to come back and eventually you have to stop counting the days and just trust in the word of the band leader that they will eventually make their way back to the scene. During that time of course it’s easy to lose hope and get excited by even the merest mention of the band when they do come around. The Jason Aldean concert will be a great chance to see them, but after that there’s really no telling when they’ll be back.
Right now it’s just a matter of trusting their word and waiting to see when and if it happens. A lot of fans will no doubt be counting the days and waiting with firm expectation of the day when they can listen in again.
