If Larry David wasn’t already immortalized by his TV appearances he will be now thanks to this $150,000 gold chain. Executive producer and manager David Weintraub commissioned a chain to be made especially with the pendant in the shape of Larry David’s head and shoulders. The entire chain is composed of 200 diamonds while the bust is gold with another 300 diamonds in it. This is lavish even for something straight out of one of the best in the world to be honest. This kind of bling seems to be something that might be coveted by a lot of people simply for what’s in it, or best left alone since it’s a piece that would be way too distinctive for anyone to steal. Seriously, you’d have to completely tear this thing apart just to avoid it being recognized.
Larry David is in fact a very well known individual but this kind of goes beyond the pale even for a fan. The work is exquisite and all and really came out looking great but it’s more than a little odd to think that Weintraub wanted to walk around with the bust of his favorite person dangling over his chest. To each their own I guess, but this just seems really strange. If a person was going to get the kind of bling to commemorate someone you would almost think that they’d go for something a little less ostentatious, but then again this is Hollywood and people don’t always make sense when it comes to what they’ll pay for and how much. A person could almost pay off a moderate-sized house for what this thing costs though.
If there are any issues with money and what it’s spent on, it’s usually because people purchase things like this that don’t make sense. It’s their money, so it’s all well and good that they do what they want with it, but simply looking at this thing and thinking that someone other than the creator is proud of it seems kind of strange. The piece is a work of art honestly but it’s still not something a lot of people would want dangling around their neck. The gold and diamonds are what a lot of people would covet, but in terms of the person they idolize a lot of folks would think twice before allowing their bust to hang over their chest. One thing is certain, this does mean that people will spend money on just about anything.
There’s no slight on Larry David since the man has earned his respect, but something like this is so off the wall that you can’t help but either laugh or raise your eyebrows simply because someone thought it was a good idea to make Larry David into an ornament to hang around their neck. Quite honestly this looks like it might belong more on a Christmas tree than around someone’s neck. It’s a lot of bling that obviously took a while to create, but it really looks like it would be more festive adorning an evergreen or noble fir rather than Weintraub’s neck.
