Lexa Doig isn’t the average pretty girl that she looks like. By the age of nine her mind was kind of made up on where she wanted to go with her life after her parents took her to see a production called Porgy and Bess. From that point on she wanted to be an actor and started leaning towards that direction in her schooling. She’s been around for a while and has done a few guest-starring roles and managed to land in a couple of movies that are fairly well known.
She’s someone you might have heard of and even seen, but you might need a reminder.
5. She plays the role of a doctor frequently.
It might be that she was typecast early on and just decided to go with it or it could be a matter of personal preference. People tend to select the roles they feel comfortable in and then stick with them. Some actors bounce around from role to role and can slip into one as easy as the next. Others though might find a niche that they enjoy and discover that it’s something they want to keep as their onscreen persona.
4. She dropped out of high school.
She was just about done with high school it seems when she dropped out, but she’s not the first. Some individuals in Hollywood haven’t had any formal schooling and didn’t manage to finish their secondary education before jumping in front of the spotlight. In some cases this seems to work out, and in Doig’s it seems like she’s found an adequate path for her life at the very least.
3. She studied American Sign Language when she was a teenager.
Depending on who you ask ASL does count as another language since it has it’s own inflections and grammar that a person has to learn in order to be understood. There’s no telling if she still knows any of it since the finger movements are a bit intricate at times and can be lost if they’re not used continuously. But ASL is a handy language to know.
2. She was a rhythmic gymnast as a child.
If you’re wondering what a rhythmic gymnast does, they practice gymnastics with a prop, such as a rope, a ball, hoops, a ribbon, or other items that can be added into their routine. You’ve likely seen this in movies and on TV when gymnasts use certain objects to add to their floor routine. It’s kind of interesting to watch really since it seems like it would take even more practice and concentration to achieve than regular gymnastics.
1. She’s a self-admitted geek.
When she’s got free time Lexa enjoys playing RPG games, Dungeons and Dragons is admittedly her favorite, and watching cartoons. She also admits that she has a rather bad potty mouth and is more like one of the guys at times when she’s just hanging out. That sounds pretty much okay since people are entitled to do and say what they want on their own time.
If you’re still wondering where you’ve seen her before she was in Jason X, if that helps.
