Guy Creates Makeshift Snowplow Out Of Lawnmower And Flatscreen Television Box

The video of this man using a cleverly made snow plow that’s formed from a mower and a flatscreen TV box has been seen nearly everywhere it seems. It’s an ingenious design really but I wonder how long it took until the box was so soaked that it became more of an impediment than a help. It’s hard to argue that it worked since you could see that it cleared a lot of powder off of the walkway. It probably saved his back too since he didn’t have to shovel and therefore didn’t have to lean over all that much in order to get the job done. But it almost looks like there’s a sheet of ice under the snow that a box isn’t going to touch.

I normally would say that I wonder just how he came up with this bu the idea is pretty simple and straightforward. You want to shovel your front walk but you don’t want to strain your back and thereby ruin the day and possibly the week by having to recover. So a guy has a riding mower and a big box and he gets an idea of what to do with the two of them. That’s sound reasoning to me and it’s a good way to get a little more use out of a box that wasn’t doing any good just sitting in the recycling pile anyway. I do wonder however if the box would still be accepted by recycling after being soaked through so thoroughly, or if it would just be pulp by the time the walk and driveway were done. It doesn’t look warm enough to really expect the snow to melt or affect the box in that manner but it’s always possible that the moisture would still find a way to make the box less effective after taking the time to use it as a plow.

When last I checked John Deere does make snow blade attachments that might work just a little better than this, but they’re about $300 or more so it could be that he was trying to save a few bucks. Of course if you have a John Deere then it’s possible to assume that you have a bit of money here and there that you could spend if you really had to. But the innovative nature of this man can’t be pushed to the side since he did come up with something that did work.

Now I’m wondering if the box would be able to work with anything deeper than what we’re seeing or if it was anything but loose powder. I can’t imagine it would push through ice all that well without folding or tearing, and I can’t see it doing much more than a foot of snow if really pushed to do so. Even that might be too much since cardboard can only hold up against so much. He had a good idea and it worked for him though so this is pretty awesome.
