A woman was arrested when she stole a stroller from a family visiting the Magic Kingdom. She wasn’t arrested when she actually stole the stroller, but instead when she attempted to sell it. There are two separate instances of theft this year that occurred, both of which were the theft of personal property of a family that had gone to the park to enjoy themselves. I tend to wonder about some of those within the human gene pool at this point since the act of theft inside of Disney World seems like one of the lowest acts you could possibly commit. You’re in a theme park that’s designed for families, and you’re stealing. I do believe that there’s a special level of hell designed just for such people.
Earlier in the year a woman, who was with her daughter no less, attempted to steal a stroller from a family under the auspice that she’d already purchased it and had been using it. Her daughter was dressed like a character from Frozen so it was likely that she thought that she wouldn’t get noticed. Unfortunately for her the video that showed her stealing the stroller went viral and the moment she tried to sell it that video came back to bite her in the butt and she was arrested. When I look at things like this I tend to worry about humanity and what our kids are going to think of growing up.
It’s not even just the theft itself, it’s the inconvenience that it brings along with it. The woman earlier in the year had stolen a stroller that had the unfortunate victim’s wallet in it, the name tag clips, and even an Epipen that belonged to her niece. Not a lot of people would be too forgiving if their young relative, who required such an item, would have gone into shock and been without said item. That time the perpetrator eventually turned herself in, and was discovered to have been selling high-end strollers and other child safety devices for a hefty profit.
The second time this year this happened was when a family parked their stroller to go on a ride and were robbed one of the most gutless ways possible. They came back to find that their stroller and everything in it had been taken, which included everything they’d needed for their newborn. Anyone with kids should at least feel a little emotion when it comes to something like this since being so far away from home, especially in a place where everything you look at seems to cost more and more with each passing day.
Eventually the items were recovered as the perpetrator was attempting to sell them online. A private investigator was hired and posed as a buyer. The crook was busted only a short time later as the police were involved in the matter and the stroller was returned. I shake my head at moments like this as people never fail to surprise and even disappoint at times.
