Dr. Seuss had a whimsical way of looking at the world and in his many quotes he tended to get so wordy and use so many tongue-twisting rhymes that many parents have probably rolled their eyes in frustration. But you know what? He had some good points in there. For every line of rhyme he wrote there was always a lesson to be learned and to be followed in order to teach children both how to read and how to act. Yes there was a lot of silly stuff but kids love silly stuff, it’s the essence of playing, the essence of being a kid. It’s how they look at the world and react and how they begin to learn what the world is about. Eventually we come to the crossroads in life where we have to make a decision on how to proceed and where we want to go. What’s brought us to that point is what we’ve learned as a younger person and how we’ve learned to apply it.
How many of us could pull a Dr. Seuss quote out of thin air? I’m going to guess that the number is fairly low, and it’s because as we grow up we forget how to be silly and thus the lessons we learned thanks to Dr. Seuss get blurred and forgotten. That’s a sad prospect really since Dr. Seuss has taught so many generations in so many different ways how to just be who they are and be who they want to be instead of being what society wants and expects. The books have taught all about individuality and all about working as a team, which is a healthy balance of life that people don’t always seem to remember is important.
Remember a few of these if you will and recall what it was like to be silly and most of all, free to think that anything was possible.
If a person realizes they will be a student all their lives, then real learning never stops.
Those moments we want to keep dear don’t end up leaving because we store them the moment they occur.
There has to be a balance in life, otherwise we’ll miss out on a lot we don’t understand.
Live each day as though it’s the most important day and perhaps it will be the day you make an impact on the world.
There’s always another mountain to climb and a challenge to face. Sitting still doesn’t help anyone.
If you have a thought in your head and a spring in your step there’s nowhere you shouldn’t be able to go.
Be you, don’t be like any other, there’s only one you amidst millions of others.
There’s always some magic left in the world to see no matter where you have to go to see it.
Roll with life and adapt to what it gives you, that’s the best way to make things happen.
Be who you are and do what you do so that they can be they and you can be you.
Everyone matters in the grand scheme of things, regardless of size or who they are.
Don’t be sad when a moment in life has come and gone, just be glad you got to experience it and call it yours.
Dr. Seuss was a firm advocate of reading and it showed in his many books.
There’s only one person that can do what you do and be the who that you are.
Dr. Seuss cared about the future of children, and as a result so should the rest of us.
After all, someone cared enough to educate us.
