Leslie Nielsen was undeniably funny in his time and his films are still hilarious. He had such a way of deadpanning through a movie whenever he delivered a line that you had to pause for a moment before laughing just to make sure he wasn’t being serious. The man was a legend in his own time and he’s sorely missed as of now. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate some of his incredible quotes. Today we’re going to share some wisdom from one of our favorite Nielsen characters: Frank Drebin.
It takes a lot of skill to be involved in one sport and get it wrong twice in the same sentence. It was probably harder to keep a straight face while listening to it.
Here’s one of those moments when you have to just stop, try to hold it together, and do your absolute best to not even smirk as you feel a laugh coming on full force.
How many people have been needlessly clipped in the nose because they couldn’t help taking that chance?
I think we’d all agree that it’s a very good thing that truth doesn’t hurt quite this much. It might feel penetrating, but at least the truth wouldn’t be literal about it.
The imagery of this is making me laugh just thinking about it. Seriously, can you not feel the corners of your mouth turning up into a smile right now?
All the way through you get the feeling of sincerity, and then the last two words drop and that burst of laughter comes racing out.
Better to stay on your toes than spray the wall. Wait, does that even work as a metaphor?
I don’t see the problem with it honestly since it’s comedy but I’m almost certain that someone would get offended by this today.
Yeah, because utensils are so messy and tend to just….wait, what?
Ever notice how some of these border on being so horribly insensitive and yet you still laugh? I think it was all in his delivery.
Yeah, that last one might be important but I get it. Dew, birds, leaves, yeah, great stuff.
I honestly think that I’d rather fall from a half mile up and splat on the ground rather than have anything take a good, healthy bite at my package thank you.
Key words here: throw down your guns. You don’t necessarily have to come out, but throw those guns down now!
Yeah, you know, that old chestnut.
Why split hairs? Don’t say goodbye, it seems too final. Just say that we probably won’t ever see each other again and leave it at that. That sounds civil enough.
I think they did more than roost. They must have ran, rampaged, run over, and ransacked the place before deciding to calm down and roost.
Oh you thought he meant right now? Oh no, it’s lunch time. After lunch no man will rest until the guy is behind bars. And after dinner, and after a good night’s sleep, and after a bunch of other things that need to be taken care of first.
Anyone that didn’t laugh at a single one of Nielsen’s jokes throughout his career must not have a sense of humor.
