Highlights From Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’s Return This Week

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” returned on May 31 for more of the late night comedy show’s second season. Samantha Bee is the Canadian-American writer, satirist, comedienne, media critic and television personality who was the longest running commentator on Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show”. Samantha Bee began “Full Frontal” in 2016 for TBS. She is a source to be reckoned with in late night comedy talk shows. Samantha Bee brings her wit and political satire to late night audiences and Season 2 of the hit show has plenty of politics to satire.

Here are the top 5 highlights from May 31, 2017’s episode of “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”.

President Trump Abroad

Comedians and political satirists could not find more potent material than from President Donald Trump’s first trip abroad as President of the United States of America. President Trump blatantly made a point to alienate many of the United State’s allies in Europe and every photo op was a chance for comedians to cherish. Samantha Bee did not hold back from the obvious uncomfortable encounters of Donald Trump with other world leaders.

Nepotism

President Donald Trump has been accused of nepotism since before the U.S. Presidential election. He installed his family and close knit friends into his Presidential advisory. Political satirists and comedians like Samantha Bee have had much material to work with since the Presidential election. The whole situation has opened up a “can of worms” for Samantha Bee to deal with on “Full Frontal”. From unwritten rules to mysterious wiretaps, to the firing of major Washington DC players to sketchy ties with Russia, Samantha Bee has had plenty of satirical fodder for her TBS show.

“Covfefe”, The Tweet Heard Around the World

Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal” episode came on the dawn of the most questionable President Trump Tweet to date and she ran with it. President Donald Trump has been tweeting constantly despite his advisors’ attempts to reign him in. His latest criticism in his midnight tweet of the Press’ coverage (“covfefe”) left people wondering if the U.S. President’s Twitter account is even real. Samantha Bee had the perfect opportunity to find humor in the entire situation.

Senator Ted Cruz

Samantha Bee’s interview with Senator and former “Saturday Night Live” alum Al Franken was the perfect opportunity to satirize Texas Senator and former Presidential candidate Ted Cruz. Franken, a Minnesota Senator has just published an amusing book about his time in the U.S. Senate with a whole chapter about Senator Cruz. In the May 31 episode of “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”, Franken and Bee traded their favorite barbs about Ted Cruz and the results were amusing.

Montana’s Greg Gianforte’s Anti-Media Show

When the state of Montana held a special election for their 1 U.S. House of Representative’s seat, no one could have imagined that it could turn so violent. Republican Gianforte was asked by “The Guardian’s” Ben Jacobs his opinion on Trump’s healthcare, Gianforte immediately became defensive. He pushed reporter Jacobs, grabbed him and body slammed him. The whole incident was caught on Jacob’s phone recorder, yet Gianforte initially claimed the accusations as false. Several Republican pundits stood up for Gianforte who quickly realized he had to apologize for the incident. Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal” segment was called “Toxic Testosterone: Democracy 2017”. Bee used the opportunity to satirically point out that the several of the Republican party’s advocates were nothing more than bullies.
