After-credit scenes have become more and more popular in recent times as a sort of bonus for people who are dedicated enough to wait instead of rushing out of the movie theaters as soon as possible. However, now as in the past, there are some after-credit scenes that are so good that they should have been included in the movie itself.
Here are five after-credit scenes that should have been in the movie listed in no particular order:
Iron Man
Iron Man was the first movie that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in a real sense, it was its after-credit scene that kicked off the entire chain of events. The movie seems to end with Tony Stark admitting that he was Iron Man. However, the after-credit scene shows Nick Fury waiting in Tony’s home for the purpose of recruiting him for the Avenger Initiative. At the time, it was huge because it meant that there would be an Avengers movie at some point in the future, which in turn, meant that other members of the superhero team would be getting their own movies as well.
Curse of Chucky
For people who loathe the possessed doll for what he was able to get away with in Curse of Chucky, there is nothing as satisfying as its after-credit scene. It sees Chucky being mailed to the now-adult Andy Barclay from the first three movies in the Child’s Play franchise in much the same manner as how he was mailed to his victims. However, Andy has been expecting something like this to happen, which is why he is able to utter a one-liner before firing a shotgun aimed at the possessed doll as soon as it cuts his way out of the packaging.
Napoleon Dynamite
The Napoleon Dynamite after-credit scene shows Kip’s hilarious nuptials, which is a fitting follow-up to the jokes that have been made throughout the movie. It is longer than most after-credit scenes, which was necessary in order to accommodate the horse as well as the terrible singing. Interestingly, the after-credit scene wasn’t actually included in the movie when it was first released, having been included after Napoleon Dynamite had started becoming a hit through word-of-mouth marketing.
Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End
Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End come to a close with Will sailing off on the Flying Dutchman, having left his heart in Elizabeth’s keeping. However, the after-credit scene showed Will returning home after a decade’s time to see Elizabeth as well as their son waiting for him, thus providing viewers with the satisfaction of seeing them reunited at the promised time.
Young Sherlock Holmes
Young Sherlock Holmes saw the titular character uncovering his most trusted teacher as the culprit behind a series of poisoning, which led to said individual’s fall into a frozen river. For people who thought that this referenced the famous encounter on top of the Reichenbach Falls, there was the after-credit scene, which revealed that the teacher went on to become Professor Moriarty. Something that did a great deal to change the viewer’s interpretation of the entire movie.
