I’m a massive fan of musical scores in movies. I think those of you who have read my articles know this by now but in case you haven’t, I happen to think a musical score is an essential ingredient to any successful movie. It has the power to make a good movie great and even a crappy movie seem pretty decent. The ways in which music becomes part of the movie can make the viewer sad, confused, happy, you name it. It’s easy to imagine how different some movies would be had their scores been either better or worse.
One movie that has a completely known score and theme song is Star Trek. While many trekkies would find it criminal to replace the score of this film with anything at all, when I came across this video of replacing it with the TRON Legacy score I had to share it. It makes the movie completely different and dare I say it, better.
Plus, it’s hard to get upset at a cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture that is 22 minutes long and really doesn’t lose anything significant from the movie. That just goes to show you how much of a bore the original Star Trek movie really was. Did I just say that? Yikes!
