Fan-Made VHS Commercial for Star Wars ‘Rogue One’ Is a 70s Delight

There’s no question as to how good Star Wars: Rogue One was.  It was the first Star Wars spinoff movie that demonstrated that the series can go in whatever direction it wants and be successful.  It also showed that it did a great great job of time-traveling back to a time before the first film in the series.  Speaking of which, a fan out there decided to go really far back and make an old school VHS commercial for the movie.  Does anyone even remember VHS commercials?  Remember the days of local video stores?  I’m talking pre-Blockbuster.  The one I went to was called “LVR.”  No clue what that stood for.  Anyway……

From the amazingly accurate ’70s-style voiceover to the grainy footage, the fake Star Wars commercial is so good you might actually be able to trick yourself into believing this is how the franchise chronology played out in real life. The retro box art looks exactly like something one would have found in your neighborhood video rental shop back in the days before Blockbuster drove them all out of business.  And then you know, Netflix decided to drive Blockbuster out of business.
