It’s Halloween in the City of Angels. Children dress up in colorful costumes and going door to door to get delicious candy. For our favorite Devil, however, he is in no mood for sugary sweets. He acts out in his grief and guilt over Uriel’s death in tonight’s episode of Lucifer.
Said Devil drowned his sorrows in generous amounts of alcohol that made him intoxicated. As a result, he made out with a couple of female patrons at LUX in the process. I’ve never seen Lucifer drunk from the beginning of this series. It’s quite shocking, to say the least, to see him like this. Dr. Martin arrived to check on the Prince of Darkness, but the latter pushed her away in his apparent drunken stupor.
When Lucifer showed up at the zombie-themed wedding crime scene, still very much under the influence, I had no words. I figured that he would at least pull himself together to work on the case. His clothes were disheveled, and he just isn’t himself. Detective Decker’s right. He does look like a homeless magician. Though I understand that he’s feeling guilty over the fact that he killed someone for the first time, namely his brother, again, he had no choice. It was either kill Uriel or lose Detective Decker and his Mother. Also, drinking and driving is never a good idea, Lucifer, immortal or not! One more thing, how did Lucifer know how to use an app? Nevermind, it’s rhetorical.
I’m also glad to see Maze bond with Trixie as the former took the latter trick-or-treating. Wonder where the demoness managed to get her hands on the President of Mars costume? It also amazed me that the little girl was completely unphased when Maze showed her real face. Then again, the kid might think that it’s a mask or good makeup. The scene where the demoness fell asleep with Trixie next to her on the couch was so sweet. Made me smile a little despite the dark mood of the overall episode.
It’s also interesting to see Detective Decker team up with Detective Douche for once. Lucifer still proved himself useful at times aside from his pent up anger and guilt. Though the scene of him busy raiding the vending machine snacks at the precinct made me facepalm. That and when he interrogated the dead bride’s ex-boyfriend by scaring the hell out of him.
Speaking of dark moods, Amenadiel also blames himself for Uriel’s death. Mama Morningstar then brought him to a place where Lucifer had supposedly buried Uriel. I still don’t trust her. For all we know, it could be an empty plot. I bet she planned on using Amenadiel’s grief and turn it into resentment toward her ex-husband, that manipulating Goddess of Creation! My heart went out to Lucifer when he saw someone that reminded him of Uriel after he went back to LUX when Detective Decker told him to go home. Nice punch to Detective Douche’s nose, by the way!
As the episode ended, Detective Decker stopped Wes Williams, the person responsible for killing the spouses of the individuals in the various medical court cases. Lucifer finally went to speak with Dr. Martin and showed the latter his Devil face. I had a feeling that the doctor would be shocked to see that Lucifer had been telling the truth all along. Didn’t expect her to be that shocked. My heart went out to Lucifer again as he reluctantly left Dr. Martin’s office. She said that she wanted to know the real Lucifer and that’s the real Lucifer. Though I firmly believe that he’s not a monster. He’s just trying to deal with his emotions. Excellent makeup skills, show! I applaud!
