Without answering most of the burning questions, From Season 4 wrapped up with an ominous cliffhanger that leaves the town residents in more danger. The unexpected character deaths, desperate attempts to survive, eerie mysteries, and discoveries deliver one of the show’s most intense and suspenseful finales yet. The season delivers shocking twists and emotional farewells, leaving fans with more questions than answers about what comes next for the unintended residents of the mysterious town. As the mystery surrounding the town deepens, the final episode packs a punch of game-changing revelations that reshape the series as we know it.
Setting the tone for the fifth and final season, the From Season 4 finale raised the stakes. The final episode has viewers on their toes until the end. Just before the credits roll, it seems the fate of the residents is sealed, and nothing stops the chilling nocturnal monsters from devouring when darkness comes. Nevertheless, some of the season’s shocking moments hold the key to the story’s future. We explore some of the startling events that From season 4 ending unpacks and what they mean for the series.
1. All Hell Let Loose When The Bottle Tree is Destroyed
Despite repeated warnings from Victor (Scott McCord) and the boy in white (Vox Smith), a team led by Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) pulled down the iconic Bottle Tree, triggering major catastrophic consequences early in the season 4 finale. At first, it seems pulling down the tree would work in their favor as it lets daylight into the underground cave, protecting Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) and Jade (David Alpay) from the nocturnal monsters. After securing the bones in the cave, their plan to climb out was sabotaged by Sophia, “the Man in Yellow,” played by Julia Doyle.
Suddenly, it seemed Pandora’s box had been opened, and everything began working against the townspeople. The sky darkens in the middle of the day, red lightning appears everywhere, accompanied by earthquakes that shake the town to its core. Consequently, the monsters become far more dangerous and leverage the confusion to attack. By the time the sky is clear again, there’s little or no morale left in the town.
2. Sophia Gruesomely Kills Elgin

Elgin’s (Nathan D. Simmons) story comes to a brutal end early in the episode, and the town is too busy to notice. After discovering Sophia’s true identity as another form of the Man in Yellow, it’s clear Elgin’s fate is sealed. However, Sophia tried to get him on her side to work against other residents, but he refused. Before going off to carry out her sinister plan, Sophia kills him just by holding his hand, causing blood to ooze out of his eyes.
3. Smiley Kills Marielle

Amid the chaos of the sudden eclipse and earthquakes, Jack McGuire‘s Smiley monster stormed into the clinic in search of Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori), whom he now calls mother. In an attempt to protect Fatima from her monstrous child, Marielle sustains a fatal injury from him, marking one of the finale’s most heartbreaking casualties. Marielle’s death throws the town into mourning as more danger looms.
4. Henry Tries to Kill Victor to Make Things Right

One thing has been clear since season 1: the mystery town influences people to do unimaginable things, and Henry (Robert Joy) is no exception. Convinced by his disturbing hallucinations, Henry pulls a gun and almost murders his son Victor. Apparently, he has been led to believe that killing Victor in the town would reset everything and that they would return home. This highlights just how much psychological control the town has over its residents.
5. Jade and Tabitha Almost Die in the Cave
After retrieving the mysterious children’s bones from the cave, the rescue plan seems to be working fine for Jade and Tabitha until the climbing rope snaps. They leverage the earthquakes’ ripple effect to make another desperate attempt to escape the monsters surrounding them. Now trapped in the underground cave, Jade and Tabitha continue to seek an escape route before Boyd and his team intervene. Meanwhile, the plan to use the mysterious children’s bones to plot their exit from the town remains pending.
6. Fatima’s Terrifying Turn

Since she gave birth to one of the monsters in the From season 3 finale, Fatima appears to have a growing connection to them. Season 4 sees her displaying supernatural abilities. She senses when the monsters are close and often shares Smiley’s sight while also controlling him, even from a distance. In the final moments that leave viewers on the edge of their seats, Fatima transforms into a creature to protect the other town residents in the cave.
7. From Season 4 Finale Ends With the Town Losing Its Last Line of Defense

Instead of answers, the final episode of From season 4 closes with more unsettling questions. Sophia (Man in Yellow) steals talismans from the houses in the town and dumps them down a tree just before the credits roll. This leaves the residents defenseless against the nocturnal monsters for the first time since discovering the protective stones. With nightfall a few hours ahead, only the fifth and final season will determine their fate.
