Spy Kids: Armageddon’s cast appealed to different generations of viewers. The 2023 spy action comedy blended adult and established performers with young and upcoming actors to deliver another exciting installment to the Spy Kids film series. Helmed by Robert Rodriguez, the series debuted in 2001 and quickly became a renowned staple in family films. The critical and commercial success of the first film birthed a franchise that has spawned four sequels, with Armageddon as the latest addition to the series.
A standalone sequel to 2011’s Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, Armageddon revolves around Tony (Connor Esterson) and Patty Tango-Torrez (Everly Carganilla), the kids of two secret agents, Terrence Tango (Zachary Levi) and Nora Torrez (Gina Rodriguez). After helping a game developer unleash a powerful computer virus, the siblings embark on a mission as spies to save the world and their parents. Released to unenthused reviews on September 22, 2023, the Netflix film also stars American actors Billy Magnussen and D. J. Cotrona in supporting roles as Rey “The King” Kingston and Devlin, respectively.
Connor Esterson As Tony Tango-Torrez
One of the two spy kids, Connor Esterson is an American actor from Los Angeles. He fell in love with acting at age five after watching a diaper commercial. “Something about those kids dancing sparked something in my five-year-old baby brain,” he told Culturess. After appearing in Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, Esterson made his acting debut as Stevie in Attaway General. This was in 2020. He then played Connor in two episodes of The Underbed before landing his role in Spy Kids: Armageddon, his first feature film.
Esterson continues to build his resume and has appeared in projects like Chad and Quantum Leap since Armageddon. He will star as Jimmy in Maguy R. Cohen’s upcoming family romance Santa’s Chair. While his career is still fledgling, Esterson has already begun exploring other opportunities in the industry. He is credited as a writer in two episodes of The Underbed.
Everly Carganilla As Patty Tango-Torrez

These include Miguel Arteta’s Yes Day, The Chair, Bud, and That Girl Lay Lay, which earned her the Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a TV Series: Guest Starring Young Artist.
Everly Carganilla gained more exposure in 2022 as Maggie in Christopher Miller’s The Afterparty. Her performance in the Apple TV+ series received the Imagen Award nomination for Best Young Actor. After playing Patty Tango-Torrez in Spy Kids: Armageddon, Carganilla took on the title role in Bea’s Block, an animated series that premiered on Max in February 2024. She also voiced a character in WondLa, slated to premiere on Apple TV on June 28, 2024.
Zachary Levi As Terrence Tango
Before playing Terrence Tango, the father of the spy kids, Zachary Levi had popularized his name in the industry with title roles in NBC’s Chuck (2007 – 2012) and Shazam! (2019). The American actor has been active since 2001 and continues to build his career portfolio. Levi has several works in the pipeline, including lead roles in Carlos Saldanha’s Harold and the Purple Crayon and Jon Gunn’s The Unbreakable Boy. While the former is scheduled for release on August 2, 2024, the latter has a February 2025 release date.
Gina Rodriguez As Nora Torrez
The American actress from Chicago plays the mother of the spy kids in Armageddon. Gina Rodriguez began her career on stage in 2003 and pulled off her screen debut the following year as Yolanda in an episode of Law & Order. Her big break came in 2014 when she began playing the title character in The CW’s Jane the Virgin, a role that won her Golden Globe’s Best Actress award. Since Spy Kids: Armageddon, Rodriguez has played Nell Serrano in ABC’s Not Dead Yet, which was canceled in May 2023 after season 2. She also portrayed Mack in Trish Sie’s Players, a romantic comedy released on Netflix in February 2024.
