Mr. Robot had one of the biggest presences at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 this year between their offsite virtual reality experience and the press room, and everyone wanted to speak to the show’s star, Rami Malek about his role. The breakout hit has been a huge career boost for Malek because of how well he’s nailed the role so far. The character of Elliot is extremely complicated and seems like it would take a lot out of the actor portraying him, but Malek has nailed all of the little nuances that bring the character to life. The entire cast was a pleasure to speak to and it is clear that they all fully buy into what Sam Esmail wants to create as the show continues to progress into future seasons.
The first season of Mr. Robot left viewers with a pretty big cliffhanger and the sense that we were only scratching the story’s surface. As season two progresses, Elliot has been in a unique place trying to rid himself of his mental counterpart and function on his own. TVOvermind had the chance to sit in on the Mr. Robot press room and listen to Malek discuss walking through confusing elements of the scripts, working with and having so much trust in Sam Esmail, and how this is a dream role for him.
