This process can only happen through an independent or identified adoption process wherein the chosen people fill out the necessary paperwork and then undergo a home visit to ensure they are qualified.
Since the poster and Anna had not completed any official adoption processes, the other woman was still technically the legal guardian of her child. Despite that, the OP took the baby under her wing and started making her a part of the family, along with the little one that she had just given birth to. Unfortunately, her family wasn’t so open-minded and insisted on knowing which one was the adopted child.
According to experts, this kind of pushback is actually a common thing that many adopters experience from their loved ones. The reason for this could be due to their fears over the lengthy or complicated process, or even because they aren’t able to accept the child as a natural part of their family.

Since the OP’s relatives weren’t backing down or respecting her decision, she eventually decided to block many of them. Unfortunately, this greatly reduced her circle of support, which made her feel worried, but luckily Anna and another friend kept coming over and helping out whenever they could.
