Anyone ever seen what happens when a mother bear notices a male anywhere near her cubs? She tends to chase the male off, showing the absolute need to protect her cubs at any cost. To think that Janelle Evans, one of the moms from Teen Moms 2, might be that way is hard to say for certain, but at this point it seems preferable to take her off the air since not only have she and her husband, David Eason, present a negative role model for those that might watch the show, they’re simply too ridiculous to be believed. In short, their on-again, off-again relationship is simply too much for the program to handle, and thousands of people have actually petitioned for her to be taken off the air as she and her husband have been absolutely horrible from time to time and don’t seem to be the kind of examples that the show should want to promote.
To be honest the show is kind of a joke since in many ways it’s not the best way to promote what it’s like to be a teen mom, since promoting such a thing in the first place is not the greatest idea. Too many young women seem to think that being a young mother is bound to be great since by the time their child is born and then grown they’ll still be young enough to have a good time with life and enjoy themselves. Too few of those that idolize this life ever seem to think of the short-term and how truly hard it’s going to be if they don’t have the life experience they need, the job that will allow them to succeed and pay for their family, or the support they will need from family and possibly friends to make everything work. This short-sighted view of the world is something that too many young women, and men, are guilty of and it usually takes a heavy toll on them when it comes to their health, their finances, and any opportunities they might desire in the future.
Of course a show like Teen Moms makes these young women famous and pays them well enough that they can make their way into the world in a very unrealistic manner that showcases their lives in a way that many will no doubt think is great and therefore very doable. The problem here is that not only is this unrealistic, but the people that are used are, at times, less than reliable as role models and are not even that great when it comes to parenting their own children. That seems harsh, doesn’t it? Unfortunately life is just as harsh when you haven’t yet gained the life experience needed to navigate your way through it. Having kids means taking on responsibilities that don’t end, and it means that the fun, carefree days of partying, hanging out with friends, and doing whatever you want becomes severely limited. Those that still attempt to do this and foist their kids off on relatives and friends whenever possible aren’t that great when it comes to the parenting job, no matter what mitigating circumstances one wants to bring up.
Young people have to be young people? No, nope, and nuh-uh. Young people cease being able to use this excuse when they have kids, as they decided to take a step into the big people seat and now need to play catch-up. The reason why Janelle, and by extension David, need to be booted not just from the show but from TV altogether is that it’s time for them to figure out what real life is all about and to understand what it’s like to earn a living that doesn’t come from showing just how bad of a parent you can be in one instant only to act like a guardian angel in the next. The fact that they’ve both shown just how nasty they can be on camera and over social media is more than enough to criticize, especially if you’re the type that sees being overtly mean to children as a real problem. Added to that this whole show needs to go away to be honest since it’s kind of a joke, and not a funny one. Teens need to wise up at this point in life and understand that while having kids doesn’t mean your life is over, it does mean that your younger years just became dominated by a responsibility that is yours to deal with and no one else’s.
There is a reason why Millennials and members of Generation Z catch so much flak even if many of them don’t deserve it, and Janelle and David are just two examples of why people from older generations make such bold statements concerning the lot of them.
