Is it just a little bit strange to anyone else that Star Trek, which existed in some form or another as a TV series for 40+ years, is now a film franchise instead? It’s like if they stopped making James Bond movies and gave him a TV show instead. Actually, that could be kind of awesome. I really do like the new cast of the Star Trek films, and I think Chris Pine is a pretty great Kirk in his own right. But really, he can never be THE Kirk, rather just some alternate reality version of him that’s far less hammy. I love so many things about the old Shatner Kirk that I just had to compile the gallery to show you why. Let the GIFs commence.
