Carey Lowell might be considered an actress that rests between generations since she’s been known to those that grew up in the 80s and 90s and she’s still fairly prominent in the current era. Asking what happened to her is kind of accurate since for a while she did manage to disappear from the acting scene. But while she was gone a lot of people didn’t seem to take note that she’d been there in the first place, no offense to her but the industry moves pretty quickly and all she did in her earlier years, which was quite a bit, was being forgotten and pushed to the back of the shelves as time went on. One quality she did possess that a lot of women likely would have done anything to acquire for their own reputation was that at one point she was a Bond girl, no matter that it was just for one film. That’s still something that a lot of women would likely do a lot to earn.
To be honest she’s doing just fine at this time since she’s still acting and still looking pretty good while doing it.
She moved around a lot as a child.
Since her father was a geologist Carey ended up living in many different locations around the world, which couldn’t have been easy on her as a child but no doubt allowed her to see a lot of different and probably interesting sights. Her family did end up finally settling in Denver, Colorado when she was 12 years old so she did have some constancy in her life after a while. A lot of kids that move around tend to have problems making friends, finding a stable base from which to really find a handle on their surroundings and even really get comfortable with where they’re at. It’s interesting to think just how long she got to stay in each area she lived, but considering that she was so young it might have been more like a continual adventure and not so much like a constant state of upheaval. Of course every person takes such constant movement in different ways and to kids it might be exciting or it might be rather scary since there isn’t a lot of permanence in their lives during such times. She seems to have come through that just fine however.
Initially she was a model.
She definitely has the look and figure for it and she did manage to model for some of the top names in the fashion industry. How she decided to turn her talents to acting is kind of hard to figure out due to the fact that there’s not a lot of explanation to be found on the subject. But obviously she’s not the only person that’s ever transitioned from modeling to acting and in truth she made the jump fairly easily since she went on to star in some of the most well-known films in her time and was quite successful for a while. Like many actresses she no doubt took roles now and again that she didn’t fully agree with or want but that seems to be the nature of the business. In any job there are always going to be days when you simply don’t have the drive or the passion for what you’re doing, but we get through all the same. It seems to be the same with acting some days.
At one point she stepped away from acting.
In the mid-2000s she took herself out of the limelight and wasn’t seen for several years, at least not on screen. But eventually she did come back and has been back ever since with only small breaks in-between as though to recharge or perhaps have some time to herself and her family. The life of an actress can be kind of stressful it seems and there’s no doubt that there are times when people just feel the need to get away and turn their back on the industry now and again just to get some peace and quiet. A lot of people might imagine that it’s all glitz and glamour and everything their money can afford, but in reality it seems like it would be deadlines and an army of people in your face with cameras every so often and very little private time unless you became less of a celebrity and didn’t really rate the all-star service.
Carey has been keeping a steady career for a while now and has managed to keep herself in the loop as she’s been seen in several shows and movies throughout the years. While she hasn’t really managed to regain the fame she had when she first started out the fact that she’s still around after having decided to come back is pretty impressive.
