Recently Comic Con revealed footage of Steven Spielberg’s new “Ready Player One.” The film is set for release in 2018 and already anticipation is building. We’ve been given a few tantalizing teasers and for those of you who haven’t heard about it yet, here is what we know about the new film that is certain to be a game changer.
The evolution of Wade Watts
Wade Watts takes the lead in the film as a young man who is an outcast in his society. His life is filled with drudgery but he finds an amazing escape that will blow your mind. We’ll get to see the exciting evolution of the character as he moves from dull and boring to an action figure that we believe will rival action greats Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vin Diesel. It’s always exciting to see a new star in the making and from what we’ve observed, that’s exactly what we can expect to happen.
MMO technology at its finest
A billionaire creates an MMO video game that is called “The Oasis.” Anyone who puts on the goggles finds themselves immersed in a world where anything is possible. If you can imagine it, you can experience it. It gives Watts the perfect escape from a world that is barely tolerable for him. In “The Oasis,” he is somebody important and his life takes on new meaning.
Hunt for a hidden treasure
The creator of “The Oasis dies, but he leaves behind a challenge for the players. He has hidden an Easter Egg. The person who finds the egg will be given the fortune that he has left behind both in the game and in real life. Wade discovers his first clue and the game begins. He enters the race with some stiff competition.
Time elapsed action
After Watts enters the race to find the Easter Egg, five years elapses. During this time some great action builds. Players who are hunting for the treasure take the action both inside and out of the game. The foes that Watts is up against are in the corporate world and there is nothing that they won’t do to find the vast fortune that is worth billions of dollars. We aren’t told much about the upcoming scenes, but the trailer shows some dramatic car chases in a world where fantasy bleeds over into reality.
Danger and thrills
Because the stakes of the race are so high, there will be a lot of underhanded moves and dirty dealing. Foes in the corporate world will stop at nothing to win the prize, and this includes wiping out the competition not only within the game, but in the real world as well. This ups the ante for achieving an advantage over the competition. We will have to use our imaginations to anticipate what kind of situations will happen.
