Westworld Season 3 is a Ways Away but Here’s What we Know about It

Like Luke Hutchinson from ScreenRant says it’s going to be a while before we see Westworld come back, but season 3 is coming all the same since it’s HBO’s answer to ‘what’s next’ after Game of Thrones is all over and done with. Perhaps the most confusing thing about the show is thinking what’s left at this point since the hosts have been running roughshod on a lot of the guests and the whole idea of them escaping seems to eliminate the whole point of the show. But thankfully there’s more to it than that and there are a whole list of ideas that are coming to keep this show up and running for a while yet. The only sticking point is that season 3 is going to be a while and it won’t be likely to return in 2019. This hopefully tells us that there’s going to be a lot more to it and a lot more detail to come that we haven’t seen yet, or at least more of what we have seen in major doses. So far the show has managed to blow the audience away on a pretty regular basis since it’s introduced an idea that’s nothing short of mind-boggling when it comes to the ethics and all-around moral issues that come with the park.

Allie Gemmill of Inverse has already said what a lot of us have no doubt guessed, that a lot of the cast will be returning, though there’s a few that are in question and there will be a few new faces that aren’t all confirmed but are rumored at least. There is a rumor that Antonio Banderas will be signing on as a villain but at this time it’s not a solid lock, more like a wishful thought that could come true. But as far as the rest of the cast most of them should be coming back, though it does sound like young William won’t be making the return since it kind of seems as though that part of the story has been told thoroughly enough that he doesn’t warrant another showing. It’s not for certain if Ford will return which is kind a risky thing with fans since Anthony Hopkins is loved by many but in this particular show it almost seems as though some might want to see him gone and others might want to see him stick around for a bit longer. After all he’s been that nagging, persistent voice that seems to know so much and reveal so little that his absence might be sorely missed.

But apart from that there’s really not a lot to say. The fact that the story will be headed out of the park opens up a wide range of possibilities that’s going to have a lot of people guessing until the first trailer comes out, and there’s no telling when that will be. David Crow from Den of Geek has affirmed that production just started in April, which means that anything we’re bound to see is likely months away and will keep the fans salivating for a while to come.

While Westworld is in fact a very interesting and intriguing show it’s kind of bold to say that it will be satisfying when Game of Thrones is gone, though some people might echo the sentiment and think that it’s a worthy replacement. That being said it is an interesting tale and one that manages to capture the attention and hold it for a while. Truth be told however the technical nature of the show does appeal to a certain mindset and it does seem to attract those that love to see a story played out again and again in a seemingly endless loop that some know about and some don’t. Don’t get me wrong, I binge-watched every episode from season 1 and was waiting patiently for season 2’s every episode to come out once I pegged my favorite characters, but comparing this to Game of Thrones is like comparing apples to oranges, as the old saying goes. They’re both great shows, and they both have the capacity to take the fans into a whirlwind adventure that won’t let go until they’re good and ready. But one thing that Game of Thrones does have on Westworld is that it’s less cerebral and a lot more visceral. Fans can claim that both shows offer a pleasing amount of both sensations, but the truth is that Westworld is a thinking person’s show while Game of Thrones runs on emotion far more than reason, which is easy to understand considering that GoT deals with magic, dragons, and medieval ways of thinking whereas Westworld is set in a modern-day landscape.

So it’s going to be a while before we see a season 3, but it is coming. Time to brush up on season 2 maybe and remember everything that COULD be coming.
