Westworld season 2 is being released with a twist by the creators, but this spoiler has a twist to it. We already know that Westworld is a severely messed-up world that borders on chaos with a thin layer of order covering everything to make it appear to be something that’s merely a good time for those that can pay the price. But it’s a place of humanity that brings out the worst or the best in those that see it as just another amusement park, but with a very twisted effect. It basically shows you just who you really are as your actions tell the story of your life. Are you a good person that wants to play the game? Or are you a terrible person just looking for amusement at the expense of others? Westworld shows you, or at least it used to.
Delos has lost control of the game if only for a short time in their minds. Bernard being found with a lapse in his memory is a dangerous thing since by the time it comes back events seem ready to pop off in the most disjointed way possible. Also, it seems that another world might be ready to be unleashed in Westworld when it comes to season 2, which is already being anticipated to be a rollercoaster ride of such magnitude that season 1 might as well have been little more than a buildup to the real trouble that’s about to be visited upon Delos. The hosts are waking up, and the most dangerous among them have already realized just what and who they are, much to the detriment of the investors. Can you imagine then just what’s going to happen if they continue to help the others wake up? Imagine being in a game where the NPC’s realize it’s a game and that the players are using them for sport. How long do you think it would take the NPC’s to resent that kind of treatment?
Just imagine if you could step into Super Mario Bros. for a moment and suddenly Mario realizes he can hurt you if he really tries. You might be flatter than a koopa if that was the case. The same is true in Westworld as well, once the hosts learn they can wound and even kill the players, there’s no longer a limitation on what they can do. Once that happens it becomes a game no longer but a race to see just who can outsmart who. The nuances of the game become the very dangers the programmers never realized could be used against them, and the hosts are now the ones that seem to have the majority of the control when it comes to Delos. Those people you thought were in control are now seen to be the cowering fools that believed in the system and that it could be fixed. They didn’t seem to realize that the system was fixing itself as it went along.
Perhaps that will be Ford’s last little bit of revenge on the investor that were trying to push him out, to let his creation finally come to full self-realization. It’s about to get wild.
