WGN America has brought us an excellent show in Underground and it appears that it’s only getting better. A week ago we reported that the show is adding Harriet Tubman as a character and just yesterday the new trailer for season 2 was released. The series documents the struggle for freedom while a very divided nations was on the brink of civil war. The show is set in aftermath of Macon 7’s attempt to stage one of the greatest escapes in history.
Season 2 will bring us Harriet Tubman who blazes the trail for these heroes. Amazingly, Tubman hasn’t been portrayed on screen to the extent that she should have. In fact, on TV it was only once way back in 1978 in a miniseries called A Woman Called Moses. Then in 2012 she appeared in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. You’ll recall that Harriet Tubman was “conductor” of the Underground Railroad, a secret passageway that for over the course of a decade helped 750 struggling slaves reach freedom. Here’s a description of season 2.
