Ugly Betty is BACK!

My prayers have been answered. Tonight’s episode, Rabbit Test (3.20) is FINALLY on after what seems like weeks! Wait. It was weeks.

Guest starring are Daniel Eric Gold as Matt Hartley, David Rasche as Calvin Hartley, Derek Riddell as Stuart, Brennan Brown as Miles Foster and Adam Grupper as Dr. Erskine.

Wilhelmina gets off the subway and there’s something disgusting on her shoe. Daniel has yet another bus snafu…. And Betty gets out of a limo. Betty walks in to controlled chaos. Obviously since the Sex Issue was such a bust, they have stripped Meade down to the bare bones. Matt has invited both Betty and her family to the Huntley Easter Egg Hunt. Daniel is a little put off- he wasn’t cool enough for the invite I guess. But he does finally put together that Matt is rich and that Hartley. He realllly wants to go, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

Wilhelmina is getting pictures taken of her and the little one, and the photographer (the same one she sold her soul for) casually mentions that little William might not be hers.

Matt convinces Betty to go to the party, and while Betty is reasearching the incredibly wealthy Cal Hartley (who Daniel seems to have a wee bit of a mancrush on) they learn that he likes to invest in media companies. Betty is certain that she can set it up, but Matt shoots her down, saying it’s impossible.Really Matt, how can you not know your girlfriend by now?

Betty is struggling whether or not to disappoint Daniel or Matt. Hilda sums it up fairly well when she says “If you have to choose between the boss and the rich boyfriend … show me the money!”

Wilhelmina shows Marc the baby photos and he agrees that the tyke looks like Christina. Uh Oh, Willie. She brings in the fertility doctor which tells them what most teenagers know, that surprise! You can’t get pregnant if you’re already pregnant! Wilhelmina assigns Marc a “discreet” task… find out of Christina had sex before Wilhelmina’s egg and Bradford’s sperm played house together in her womb.

Matt surprises Betty at work, and they have a “Sexy Scavenger Hunt’ so that she can keep Matt and Daniel apart. Unfortunately it backfires and they both find out that Betty has been dishonest. Betty wants Matt to set up the meeting, and she asks him again. Matt tells her that he is vastly different from his father and things don’t look good. Betty explains to Daniel that she was sorry, but she couldn’t change his mind. Daniel tells her that it’s okay and that we’ll figure something out. Wilhelmina tells him that they are on their last legs, and tells Daniel that they have to make some tough choices. He has to take care of downsizing the company… and the page he turns to has Betty’s face on it!

Marc tries to bond with Christina by giving her a sex IQ test. Christina is rather disgusted, wondering why he’s so interested in her sex life. (Oh, and Amanda jumps in with ‘I have a pornographic memory.’ Hahaha.) Christina finds Stuart and they remember that… yes. They did have sex in June, a few days before the procedure. They have to find out the truth.

The next morning, some poor schlub is handing out pink slips and…. Amanda gets one. I actually went “NOOOO” at this point. Sorry- I’ve really enjoyed Amanda this season! Does anyone else think it’s harsh of Daniel to fire someone that he slept with? Or is this just a sign of Daniel assuming more responsibility?

Amanda is distraught. She has been replaced by a clipboard and a daisy. Betty watches Marc comfort Amanda and goes to Daniel, telling him that she will get him his meeting with Hartley after seeng how horrible he feels about having to fire people. What about Matt you ask? What about him indeed. Hopefully he’ll understand.

Betty meets up with Matt and her family and goes to meet Matt’s dad. He is very interested in meeting anyone that ‘gets under his ex-wife’s skin’. Ha. Betty gets a phone call and finds Daniel munching on some cookies. She gives him a pep talk, and she takes him to go find her boyfriend’s dad.

Christina confronts Wilhelmina and they agree that the blood test is the only way to go.

After crashing the party, Daniel is of course caught. While security is having a little chat with him, Matt looks over and sees Betty with Daniel, trying to talk to the security people. Matt is upset that she lied to him, and she explains that she can’t just sit by while people she works with get fired. Matt gives Daniel his introduction then walks off. Betty feels bad about using him but… she had to. She wouldn’t be Betty if she didn’t put other people before herself.

Daniel and “Call me Cal” are looking down at the party while Daniel has the business meeting of his lifetime. Cal starts talking about “Floppy the Bunny,” who couldn’t make it. Cal is hinting rather strongly about the bunny and…. Yep. Daniel in a bunny costume.
(hahahaha.)

Cal “Seeing those kids smiling faces would sure put me in the mood to talk business!”

Hilda gets the egg that’s worth half a million dollars, and the proceeds are donated to charity. Poor Hilda. Betty thinks that Matt must hate her, and she apologizes for going behind his back. Oh man. Matt seems like the nicest guy ever. But he warns Betty that Daniel shouldn’t go into business with Matt’s dad- apparently he’s sort of a control freak. That’s the main reason that Matt didn’t want Daniel to be a part of his father’s business schemes.

Daniel comes hopping in, and Matt says, “You think my mom was tough one? She’s like an Easter egg. Hard on the outside, but soft and gooey on the inside. Dad’s like… Satan.” The kids push Daniel into the cake and he’s humiliated. Betty finds him after everything is over, and he is sitting by himself, little floppy ears the picture of dejection. Hartley is in. He looks forward to being in the publishing business. Daniel tells Betty that he knew what “Call me Cal” was up to, tying to show that he’s the bigger man. He says, that he’s made a fool out of himself plenty of times. He can certainly do it to save the company. Betty gives him a hug and tells him that she’s proud of him.

Later back at Wilhelmina’s apartment, the results are back. Christina opens the letter and…. the baby is WIlhilmena’s. Hm. I don’t know if I trust that letter. Especially when she tells Christina to get lost right afterwards. Christina looks distraught at the new nanny taking care of Wilhelmina’s kid. Cal Hartley sends Daniel a huge basket of carrots, saying that he looks forward to keeping him hopping. Daniel munches on a carroMy prayers have been answered.
