Not everyone can have the life of a celebrity, but at least now we can follow (or maybe stalk?) the life of one. Our favorite celebrity millennial, Taylor Swift, has teamed up with AT&T, now DirecTV, to give us all inside access to what seems like something somewhat interesting. While the ad gives us a scripted look on what her everyday life must be like, we’re left to wonder what the program is really about. Will it really show us what Taylor does on a personal and daily basis?
Well, if it’s going to be anything like the ad, then we might be willing to give it a go. The ad started off with Taylor heading to the studio to record some music, and she encountered quite a few distractions such as her cat Olivia, a bowl of kale rice thingy, someone else’s cookie dough, and of course a random fight sequence with Adam Samberg. All throughout the ad, we hear the deep voice of the narrator, cliché but effective nonetheless.

This wasn’t the first time Swift and Samberg collaborated on a project. In 2014, the two worked together on an SNL skit that showed us even more of Taylor’s comedic chops. In this AT&T ad, the two bumped into each other like they’ve had some friction in the past. They then proceeded to antagonize each other, as the narrator kept on, until it all escalated into something physical. We immediately saw Swift and Samberg go at it with full efforts, although we’re pretty positive those were stunt doubles. While they also started off as equals, Swift slowly gained the upper hand, as she slowly got Samberg tired. Swift finally took the final advantage, as an exasperated Samberg calls for a timeout. Swift denied him a reprieve, went ahead, and kicked Samberg through a wall.
It seems as if there’s nothing Taylor Swift can’t conquer, and now, she’s undertaking yet another medium, trailblazing the unknown in the world of celebrity streaming stations. Whether you love her or hate her, you’d have to admit that the move is pretty smart. It’s logical, sensible, and from what it looks like on the ad, entertaining as well. Taylor Swift Now, station dedicated to the artist and the artist alone, is the first of its kind. The video catalog, probably curated by Swift and her associates, will be available to all AT&T customers. It’s also a smart move for AT&T/DirecTV because being that Taylor’s fans are extremely loyal to her, we wouldn’t be surprised if people made a switch to AT&T from another provider just to catch this new option. Swift signed a multi-year deal, so we know this is a long-term thing for the singer.
We might see Taylor tackle Samberg again; we wouldn’t be surprised if we do. The sky’s the limit for Taylor with this new station, and she’s just expanded her reach to an even larger number. It’s also perfect timing for the release of her sixth album, Reputation, and we’re almost positive that most, if not all, of her music videos will only be available via Taylor Swift Now. Now, does that make you want to make a switch to AT&T or DirecTV? We thought so.
