10 Reasons We Need to See Noel Fisher AKA “Mickey” on Shameless Again

Shameless has introduced us to some incredibly fascinating characters in the eight seasons that it has been around. One of the most favorite in the series, Mickey Milkovich, had been a steady character for seven seasons. However, come season 8, Milkovich was visibly gone. Many fans are clamoring for his return, but according to the actor who played the part, Noel Fisher, it’s probably not going to happen–at least not at the moment. However, Fisher believes that there’s always a possibility for writers to bring the character back later on. Here are 10 reasons why we need to see Noel Fisher back on Shameless again.

1. Ian Gallagher

This is the most obvious reason to bring Fisher back. Mickey’s character was Ian Gallagher’s ultimate love, and the entire relationship was one of the best parts of the show. When Ian decided not to go to Mexico with Mickey in season 7, it was a definitely heartbreaking moment for the two and all the fans that wanted them to work out–which was everybody.

2. Epic return

Even if Mickey were to just come back for one episode, it’d be worth it to just see the moment those two reunite. We can only imagine how the scene could play out. It would be one of the most emotional scenes the show could ever make. The reunion would be great television at its worst.

3. Fans want it

If we all lived in a world where fans dictated what happens in TV shows, the world might be a much better place. There have been plenty of petitions since Noel left Shameless for the creators of the show to bring him back. That’s reason enough for us–we just want him on the show. He was good in it and for it.

4. Better love

There’s also the idea that Noel’s character Mickey deserved someone better than Ian. If he were to return to the show, a love triangle could be possible. It’ll be worth seeing how love could prevail or move on.

5. Mexico

Another interesting story arc that writers could develop is the Mexico story. Noel could come back as Mickey either changed by Mexico or absolutely even more hardened by Mexico. He could come back with a new storyline that we can all get into because we’d love to find out what happened to Mickey while he was gone. We can wait a little bit to find out but not too long.

6. The border

In an interview, Noel said that if his character Mickey was able to sneak into Mexico, Mickey should definitely be able to sneak back out and into the US. The sneaking back alone is something that’s worth seeing. How would he do it and where would he go first?

7. Foul mouth in Spanish

Mickey was definitely one of the best south side Chicago trash talkers there ever was. It’ll be interesting to see how his lingo would’ve changed after spending a year or two in Mexico. He would’ve definitely picked up some Spanish along the way. To hear Mickey curse someone out in the Spanish vernacular would be great.

8. The great escapist

We all know that Mickey can escape anything. If he can escape prison, he certainly can get through borders like no other. The third time can be the charm. We’d like to see him escape Mexico.

9. It’s not the same

There are rumors that Shameless might be on for another three seasons after season 8, and fans are already feeling the effects of a Mickey-less Shameless after just one season without Noel Fisher. It might be too much for the show to go on without Mickey. They’ve already lost a few fans from what happened. We’re not all sure Shameless could last without Noel Fisher on the cast.

10. Changed man

Ian needed someone in his life that was more stable than Mickey was–we all knew that. We all would also like to see Mickey a changed man, not in who he was but in what he did. It would be nice to see him get his life together somehow and finally be the person that might actually be good for Ian.
