The internet can be both good and bad for celebrities. Through social media, like Twitter and Facebook, these stars are able to connect with their fans directly and not just to promote their upcoming projects but to communicate with these individuals in a more personal way. However, with the good comes the bad, like this hilariously embarrassing Mark Ruffalo commercial for Clearasil, which, thanks to the power of YouTube, is now available for us all to enjoy on an endless loop.
In the video below, the movie star we now know as Mark Ruffalo “double zaps” his zits away with “Doubleclear Pads from Clearasil,” and trust me: it’s just as good as it sounds. I’ve watched it a few different times now, and I still can’t decide what my favorite part is. Is it the awful music, the way the voice in the commercial goes “zap, zap, double zap!” or Ruffalo himself at the end, looking all cool, with a girl on each arm?
To be honest, it might not be any of those. I think the best part of the video is actually the beginning of it, when a scared-looking Ruffalo grabs at his face as more and more zits appear until he does his best to run and hide from them. It’s over-the-top, cheesy, and just plain funny.
Check out the video for yourself below (it’s only 30 seconds long, but each second is absolutely glorious). Then when you’re done, go and see Foxcatcher to remind yourself just how good of an actor Ruffalo is, even if all you’ll be thinking the entire time he’s on screen is “Zap, zap, double zap!”
