With 21 seasons already aired and no plans to stop anytime soon, South Park has proven to be one of the most successful cartoons of this generation. Who would’ve thought that these four foul-mouthed friends would make such a big impact on our culture today? Two seasons ago, Season 20, was one of our favorite seasons of the show ever. It was special, in a way, because it marked the 20th anniversary of the show. As a tribute, we looked back to all the crazy adventures of Cartman, Kenny, Stan, and Kyle that year and give you the top five episodes from Season 20 of South Park.
South Park Season 20 Episode 1 — “Member Berries”
At the height of the presidential election that year, nothing could’ve come better than the first episode of that season. We saw Mr. Garrison try to throw the election against the famous Hillary Clinton. We even saw J. J. Abrams as he tried to reboot the national anthem. Gerald also started trolling the school message board as Skankhunt42. The show actually devotes an entire episode to this arc, and it’s hilarious as ever.
South Park Season 20 Episode 7 — “Oh, Jeez”
We get a President in this episode and it ends up being Mr. Garrison, of course, because of the member berries. We get some more of those oddly cute and weird things. Gerald is still doing the troll thing here, except he was sent as a spy to Denmark. He was working to eliminate Troll Trace, but things didn’t go as he planned. We also saw Cartman dealing with some female friends, particularly with Heidi.
South Park Season 20 Episode 2 — “Skank Hunt”
This is the episode that dealt directly with the Internet troll that’s been bothering girls from the school. Of course, behind it all was Gerald and he actually began to expand his work globally at this point. People were still blaming Cartman and pointing fingers at him to be the troll. It’s the ultimate girls versus boys showdown, and the girls weren’t going to let the boys down so easy.
South Park Season 20 Episode 9 — “Not Funny”
For some more trolling action, we thought that we might finally get proper closure in this episode. Gerald let it get far enough at this point. However, Gerald actually gets Ike framed for being the troll. Ike had to deal with this as well as Kyle, and they both had to deal with their mom of all people. Gerald, however, finally gets down to what Troll Trace is really up to.
South Park Season 20 Episode 10 — “The End of Serialization as We Know It”
The final episode of the season ties it all together nicely. Kyle and Ike gets a whole bunch of groups together to actually take down the Internet and Troll Trace along with it. The action is the best way to end the season full of trolling, and everyone finally hears the truth about Gerald. One of the best parts about this season finale is when Cartman tries to stop the entire SpaceX program. That was simply hilarious.
