The Top Five Cameo Appearances on Arrow

The CW network’s action crime drama “Arrow” has had several cameo appearances throughout the 4 previous seasons. Many of the guest appearances have been seen in flashbacks or as crossovers from other DC Comic shows including “The Flash”, “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow”. Season 5 is no exception. The showrunners have hinted that there will be a surprise cameo in the season 5 finale. All we know is that it a return appearance. As the Green Arrow’s team of vigilante crime fighters prepares to take down Prometheus, we can’t help wonder who this mystery character will be.

Here are the top 5 cameo appearances on “Arrow”.

1. Roy Harper

The Green Arrows sidekick and fellow vigilante in the “Arrowverse”, Roy Harper (played by Colton Haynes), has returned for a cameo on “Arrow” in the past and may return for the finale. Roy was injected with the Mirakure which gave him superpowers including super-strength, endurance and rapid cell regeneration. His code name was “Arsenal”. To save the team, Arsenal pretended to be the Green Arrow and faked his death. He left the team and Star City to begin his new life as Jason. Before he left, he gave his Arsenal suit. Under Noah Kutter’s control, Roy returned to Star City to steal technology but was freed from Noah’s control and is now in hiding.

2. Tommy Merlyn

Tommy Merlyn (played by Colin Donnel) was Oliver Queen’s friend who helped him readjust to life when he returned from Lian Yu Island. Tommy, the billionaire general manager of Verdent whose family owns Merlyn Global Group was once a spoiled and reckless young man and boyfriend of Laural Lance. He was jealous of Laural’s relationship with Oliver but died in The Glades Earthquake, saving Laural’s life. Tommy returned in the “alternate reality” that was created by the Dominators where he was living as a doctor in Chicago and was close with his half-sister Thea.

3. Walter Steele

Walter Steele (played by Colin Salmon) took a while to warm up to his stepson, Oliver Queen, when he returned from his shipwrecked island after 5 years. Walter was a friend and employee of Oliver’s father and since Robert Queen’s death had married his widow, Moira. When Walter became suspicious of Moira’s shady business, he investigated and was kidnapped. His stepson (as the Hooded Green Arrow) saved Walter, but he could no longer trust Moira and divorced her.

4. Moira Queen

Oliver’s mother, Moira (played by Susanna Thompson), was killed by the Green Arrows nemesis Slade Wilson during her run for mayor of Starling City. Moira tried to protect her children, Oliver and Thea (the result of her affair with Robert’s best friend) but often failed because of her manipulative motives. After her murder, Moira appeared in flashbacks on “Arrow”.

5. Slade Wilson

The best guess of who will return to “Arrow” for the fifth season finale is Slade Wilson (played by Manu Bennett) also known as villain “Deathstroke”. Oliver’s onetime trainer and now nemesis was a regular in season 2 of “Arrow” and returned for a cameo appearance in season 3. Could he be the surprise cameo appearance for the finale of season 5 of “Arrow”?
