Welcome to the funnier version of the Yelling Game with Billy Crystal! If you’ve ever watched a single one of his movies then you’ll know this guy is nonstop funny when he wants to be and a great dramatic actor when the scene calls for it. More than anything though he’s known for his comedy which isn’t too intellectual but is pretty far from slapstick if we’re being honest about it. The thing is he knows HOW to be funny, he doesn’t just stumble onto it by accident and he certainly doesn’t force it when it’s not there. Well, at least not usually he won’t. Comedy is a funny thing when it comes to yelling since if you do it right then people will laugh since it’s supposed to be funny and it’s supposed to elicit a response. If you just yell all the time and expect it to be hilarious you might be in for a rather rude awakening. Billy Crystal though is the kind of guy that will usually only yell if it’s warranted, meaning that he has a good reason or the situation calls for it.
So let’s get to it!
5. Monsters, Inc.
Mike is kind of a nervy guy and despite not being the biggest monster in the movie he’s got one of the biggest mouths and the biggest attitude. The great part though is that he’s essentially the brains of the partnership between him and Sully while Sully is the heart. Mike likes things to go the way they should while Sully kind of just floats through life doing the best he can. It’s a great pairing.
4. Analyze This
Call me crazy, it’s been done before, but if a mob boss and his right hand man barged into my life and threatened to tear apart everything I’d built up because the boss has problems I’d probably start getting a little tense and want some payback too. That’s why this particular scene is so funny, it’s not just Crystal trying to keep things stable, it’s him getting just a little bit of payback.
3. The Princess Bride
It’s hard to know whether to like or dislike Miracle Max, even if he is trying to save Westley from dying. He’s kind of an indifferent party no matter that he’s doing his best to keep the man alive. Still, he provides a good deal of humor to a movie that’s been a favorite of so many for so long. I’ll bet that a lot of folks that know about this movie have forgotten or never knew that Billy Crystal was in it.
2. Forget Paris
An NBA referee is never allowed to make things personal, but man when it happens in a movie it gets flat out interesting. At one point he’s ejecting people left and right without even taking into consideration what he’s doing. It’s a bad night for a guy to be a ref and a bad night for any player that dares to cross him for anything so innocent as laughing.
1. City Slickers
Ever wonder why some people do this? I mean it’s not like you’re running from kittens with horns strapped to their heads, they’re running from bulls that could lift them up and throw them several feet into the air. Worse than that, the horns on these bulls are immense. They’re actually big enough to rupture something if they really decide to stick you, and unfortunately Crystal gets the point quite literally.
He might not yell all the time but when he does he’s genuinely funny.
