4. Laurie Strode- Halloween
Jamie Lee Curtis plays Laurie Strode, the heroine, in this 1978 slasher film. John Carpenter co-wrote the movie with Debra Hill and also directed and scored the film. This was Jamie Lee Curtis’ movie debut and she plays opposite Donal Pleasance. The film also starred P.J. Soles and Nancy Loomis. The story is about a man who is locked in a sanitarium after killing his sister but then escapes to stalk Laurie Strode and her friends. Laurie must escape the evil murderer. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises this role in ‘Halloween II’ in 1981. ‘Halloween’ was made on a shoestring budget of just over $300,000. It was a commercial success as it grossed $70 million at the box office.
