Tom Hiddleston was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote his new film I Saw the Light, a biopic centering on the life and death of country music legend Hank Williams. As Hiddleston told Kimmel, there was a lot of pressure playing such an American icon, especially as a British actor, and he wanted to do his very best to get the role right. It turns out, though, “becoming” Hank Williams meant that Hiddleston had to learn to yodel, and he showed off his yodeling abilities on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.
Kimmel asked Hiddleston if he could do some yodeling for the audience after the actor had described his dedicated process of researching and training to play Hank Williams. Part of that process led to him living with well-known country music musician Rodney Crowell.
“He let you live with him?” Kimmel said, laughing.
“He did, yeah,” Hiddleston said. “I don’t know who would do that. But, you know, I can yodel now, and there comes a time in a man’s life when he’s called upon to yodel. For me, it happened a little later on.”

And while Hank Williams was certainly a daunting role for Hiddleston to play, there’s also been another major character that his name has been attached to recently: James Bond. With Daniel Craig more than likely not returning for another Bond film, everyone is speculating about who the next actor will be to take on the role, and Hiddleston is currently one of the top candidates, according to insiders. One of the main reasons why people are speculating that he could be the next James Bond is because of his role in the BBC series The Night Manager, which has already debuted in England and will arrive on AMC for American audiences next month.
“As somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, when you mention it, there’s a part of me that goes ‘Really? Are you kidding?'” Hiddleston said when discussing the possibility of being James Bond with Kimmel. “But I feel like who’s going to be the next James Bond is one of like the nation’s favorite pub conversations.”
