The episode of The Ultimate Fighter that I love the most would have to be the coaches challenge. It’s a great way for the coaches to face-off during the season in an event that equalized them. It’s also hilarious to see that some of these MMA fighters suck at other sports. Remember when it was revealed that Brazilian-born Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria couldn’t kick a soccer ball to save his soul?
This year, Jones and Sonnen had to use an excavator to do various construction skills and in the end, Sonnen came from behind and beat Jones.
It’s the last preliminary fight with Zak Cummings from Team Sonnen taking on Dylan Andrews from Team Jones. Dylan ended up taking the fight by majority decision. But honestly, who cares. I kid, I kid. This fight was the second important thing of the episode.
This season of TUF has brought back the wildcard fight. Dana White picks two fighters that lost their prelim fight and give them a second chance to obtain their dreams of entering the UFC. But who should get the two spots? Tor and Adam are completely out of the running. These guys got KO’d before the bell signaled the end of round 1. In the running was Bubba, Kevin, Clint and Zak. Judging by the fights, I would’ve pegged Bubba and Clint to be chosen.
But Dana White threw a curveball. Instead of Dana picking the fights, it was up to the coaches to choose and obviously they were going to pick someone from their own team. Sonnen already knew he was going to pick Kevin. As for Jones, it was a tough decision: his training partner or his No. 1 pick. In the end, Jones chose Bubba.
Next week, it’s Thanksgiving and time for the battle of redemption when Bubba and Kevin will finally meet in the octagon after Bubba called him out earlier this season and never fought him.
