You didn’t think we’d stop talking about The Curse of Oak Island did you? A new episode of Curse of Oak Island: Drilling Down airs tonight on The History Channel. In tonight’s episode the Lagina Brothers talk about a future project with colleague Matty Blake. While season 4 wrapped up with record high ratings in the finale, Rick and Marty Lagina seem primed to call it quits. There’s no official word on a Season 5 but so far things are looking unlikely.
I fully expect that to change not because of any sources close to the show but because this is television and when you have record high ratings, in this day and age a show doesn’t just go out on top. It has to slowly get horrible and fall into an abyss deeper than one Rick and Marty would dig.
Plus Rick and Marty are still like the Goonies aren’t they? These guys are just too hooked on finding something. They show Matty a map with a cipher on it and he looks amazed when they tell him what it means. Does that sound like two guys who want to quit? Didn’t think so. According to The History Channel “No decision has been made yet” on a season 5 and there’s no mention of any potential for a season five on tonight’s Drilling Down episode.
Like I said I just don’t see the most popular Tuesday show on THC just hanging it out. There’s just too much out there (or not out there). If not Oak Island I predict Rick and Marty will set up camp somewhere else and try to find treasure there. Like I said, the show needs to have a nice, slow pitfall and then they can cancel it.
