Wow, Teen Wolf, I soooooo did not expect that reveal. Well kind of.
This is going to be a full on speculation post. If you have not seen this episode, then exit out now!!!
So! Whoever guessed that Derek’s uncle Peter was the Alpha in the comments section, please pat yourself on the back. You so deserve it. When my top suspect, Mr. Harris, was revealed to not be the Alpha in the first scene, I nearly balked and thanked God that I didn’t bet any money in that pool. However, that same opening scene pretty much revealed who the Alpha was with the beast accusing Mr. Harris for harming him. It took me a while to connect the dots, but the reveal in the hospital still had me gasping for air by the end of the hour.
Why did Peter kill Laura? He claimed he didn’t want to and that it was a mistake, blaming his instincts to take over as Alpha as a means for his niece’s demise. Can’t wait till next week to hear Peter’s full explanation for his actions will be. No matter what the situation may be, it can’t justify him killing one of his own family members…
Who could the nurse be to Peter? Another werewolf, or a human who loves the company of a beast every now and then. It also seemed as if Derek knew she was psychotic as well, but to what extent? I have a feeling we will see more of Evil Nurse Jackie soon.
Although, the Alpha reveal wasn’t the only thing that had me yelping in glee tonight.
Jackson Wants To Be A Teen Wolf, Too (Pun intended)
First up, let’s discuss Jackson’s warped sense of trying to stay on top of his A game by wanting to become
a werewolf. This little twist eliminated and enhanced some of the theories floating around concerning Jackson’s connection to the werewolves. First off, if Jackson is a wolf, why would he want to become one? It’s easy to say that he doesn’t know about his birthrigh at this point, but for someone who is willing to suffer through the crap Scott is handling on a daily basis, you would think the man would notice some change in his hearing or the sudden urge to eat raw meat by clawing out someone’s neck.
On the same token, the not knowing excuse could work, but only in certain circumstances. I’m only keeping that theory in play due to Kate and Chris Argent revealing that someone could become a wolf by a scratch if the werewolf cut deep enough. If that is the case then why has Jackson not transformed yet? He’s had a hell of a lot of hallucinations and dreams about the Hale house fire, true, but there hasn’t been any evidence of him actually having super hearing, speed, or the need to invest in a monthly case of Gillette razors. Maybe a bite is the fastest way to transform a wolf, or maybe the potion from the wolfsbane bullet canceled out transferring the wolf curse from Derek to Jackson, but still allowed the transferring of some of Derek’s memories instead? Is your nose bleeding yet from trying to make sense of this scenario?
Whatever the case may be Jackson is still a pompous jackass in need of growing up. Seriously. Torturing Scott with his werewolf secret and dumping Lydia was just a bit much on the smug scale for my tastes. I say let someone bite him or claw his back out and transform him into a wolf. The little prick wouldn’t last a damn day with that burden, if you ask me.
Warrior Woman
Another thing of note had to be Allison getting ever closer to her destiny as a werewolf slayer. We know she was scared out of her mind while the Alpha ran rampant through the school that fateful night, but it seemed
to have really struck a nerve with her to the point that she wants to fight back. Maybe this is the warrior finally awakening in Allison, which makes Kate extremely proud and eager to turn Allison into a killing machine. Again, will Allison really be up to the task when the truth is finally laid out on the table?
Speaking of Allison and the Argents, what is up with that necklace? Is it an amulet or a talisman? Is it a key to some sort of spell or something? Or is it just a family heirloom to help identify and tie Kate with Mr. Harris and the Hale house fire?
Finally, nice call on Jackson to identify that Argent means “silver” in French. It does make a lot of sense now… Out TVO moderator, Pixie Wings, did mention this fact to me a few weeks back and it slipped my mind, so I will give her props for pointing that out to me first.
The Jig Is Up!
Scott pretty much had to deal with heartache and trying to maintain his secret identity after Jackson’s snooping proved a success. It’s pretty painful to see this man suffer from not having Allison by his side, but at this point of the game it makes sense for the two not to be together. It opens the door for more drama and complications to arise down the line and it’s not as predictable as most shows or movies in the genre. The slayer in love with a monster thing isn’t groundbreaking storytelling by any means, but Teen Wolf‘s take on this ever-growing trope makes the situation not seem so trite and stale. While I want Scott and Allison to reunite one day, at this point and time it is not the top thing on my wish list for the show. In fact, I could deal with their split spilling over into season two, giving the two of them time to grow as individuals in their respective destinies.
As for Scott’s issues with Jackson, I’m also interested in seeing how this all plays out. It’s clear now that Jackson has no need for Allison other than to bribe Scott into getting what he wants, which has Scott on edge and ready to snap his foe’s neck at any given moment. However, if Jackson does have some sort of dormant werewolf strain in his system, it would be interesting to see how these two work together. That is if they will work together…
Random Thoughts
– We got more Stiles and Derek scenes and these guys did not disappoint. Stiles using Derek’s abs as a means to get Danny to work the trace of Allison’s text message? Classic. Derek later slamming Stiles’s face into the steering wheel as payback? Priceless!
– Does Mr. Harris know about the Hales being werewolves? Or was he an innocent pawn in Kate’s scheme to burn down the place? He seemed to have no clue of anyone dying in the fire, which smells fishy to me because it’s public knowledge that people died in that fire. However, Mr. Harris knew who Peter Hale was in wolf form when he came to finish the job, so it’s unclear if the story Harris gave Sheriff Stilinski holds any water.
– The chase at the beginning of the episode was pretty well shot and executed. The scene with Derek wolfing out to scare away the dogs had me cracking up.
I know there might be something that I left out, but I’ve been at this speculation post for three hours now. I know some of you might think that’s pathetic, but I call it dedication.

you pretty much summed it up and did a pretty good job at it and explaining jackson's scratch came from derek (which i knew but was doubting myself for some reason). im not ready for allison to get back with scott either(she's a distraction). stiles and dereks together time was priceless and i thought danny liked stiles b/c a few shows back stiles asked him did he find him attractive so i assumed that stiles was a closet case or something. but derek really turned danny on Lol
well cum on who wouldnt get turned on by derek…maybe danny does lkye derek i mean look how he was lookin at him!!!
Okay I get it that it's pretty much cut and dry that Peter Hale is the Alpha…or one of the alphas but something still doesn't smell right to me. Why did he talk to Harris instead of just kill him…the alpha never talked before. He also asked why Laura came to see him? Didn't he know? Perhaps not if he killed her accidentally in animal instinct. Maybe this is just in the area of conspiracy theory or fanfiction or maybe I just really hate psycho Kate but I can think of another reason for someone killing all those people involved in the Hale fire rather than revenge…someone covering their tracks who doesn't want to be found out. Yeah…I know highly unlikely that we'll find out that Kate is a second alpha and that she's been the one doing all the killings(except for Laura) but I can't help wanting to pin it on her instead of any of the Hales who I see as victims in this whole thing.
As for Jackson I don't think the claw went deep enough to completely turn him hence the hallucination sequence of the doc then Derek having to go deeper…some of the previews suggest Derek may give him what he wants…not sure if they actually go through with it but I think it would add to the show…Scott and Jackson aren't exactly friends but Derek with Stiles and Scott started out the same way and now due to the circumstances seem to be drawing into a unique type of friendship. I could see this happening with the Jackson and Scott maybe almost along the lines of a sibling rivalry but I would think they would draw closer if they were both having to help each other escape from the hunters.
Derek and Stiles were the best part to me…the alpha reveal didn't even compare in my opinion. Even the short quips between Scott and Derek about Scott putting Derek on the states most wanted list had me rolling. Hope future events don't break up this growing friendship…I would hate not to have any humorous scenes between them in later episodes.
i still think that jackson has a chance 2 becomeing a wolf…i mean why did he go all crazy that in tha skool when peter hale howled n made scott turn n then jackson got all crazy
I love this show just as much as you it's not pathetic it's just the best dam show I have seen prolly ever!!! I to thought it was mr. Harris I even bet 5 bucks on it but dereks uncle also crossed my mind with the conversation they had about someone else getting out of the fire. From the sneak peek it seems Derek might take the alphas side idk interesting and what reason does he have to bring Jackson to the house? To have him join the pack? All though Derek is kind of a mystery I think he has started to like Scott and will make the choice to help him in the end. But my biggest question is how do you become an alpha?? Any ideas? Do you have to kill an alpha to get it? If so will Derek or Scott become one when the time comes to kill him? Also who did Kate have locked in the basement, it has to be a werewolf but who? yea i think sumone did get pulled out of tha fire that day…either it was jackson r one of the hales…its gots 2 be scotts boss…their is a second alpha i mean why would tonights episode be called "co-captain" aka my terms "co-alpha"….
Can I just say… I was right!!!!!!! Some one should look at last week post, cause I predicted this. I also wanted to say, wow that episode left me pissed off cause I hav to w8 another week to see the next episode but I'm also excited cause that was the episode I've been waiting to see. Ohh and one reason Derek's uncle would kill Laura is to become an alpha … I explained it all in my prediction last week
maybe dereks uncle killed dereks sis cuz he probly knew that there was a second alpha n maybe he wants 2 be tha only alpha n probly will try 2 get derek 2 kill scott so they could rule 2gether cuz their family…but i hope derek dosent do that….maybe derek is the sec alpha cuz he was born a wolf..he was born 2 lead…
Wow I didn't see that one coming. I was all but sure it was going to be the teacher. But it makes sence for it to be the uncle. As for Jackson and Scott I don't understand why Scotts letting Jackson work him over like he is. I know he wants Allison back and all but I wouldn't let him threaten me like that if I was a warewolf. I'd be like no ur gonna help me get her back or I'll just eat u. Lol! Just seems like Scotts being a pretty big whimp. Jackson's working him pretty good. But I dont think Jackson will ever be a werewolf Scotts gonna be the only teen wolf. But I've been wrong about everything. Lol! Can't wait till the next episode I just wish I could watch the rest of the season now.
I thought it was the Uncle as a twist quite near the beginning but then thought it must be someone else. I think Jackson could turn into a werewolf he has the aconite poisoning but the antibiotics he got might cure that and then he could turn. I think Dereks Uncle is scotts dad and jacksons but havent figured out who jacksons mum is unless it is Dereks mum?
i think jackson n derek r related maybe jackson got pulled out of the fire i mean why else would he have "nihgtmares" i would say memories bout the fire…and jackson gets all sick n stuff so maybe his slowly gets turned into one

Ifyou guys were to pay attntion and add up the things jackson is suffering if yout hink about it, like he doesnt know his dad, he wants to be the best has noone to prove but wants to prove everyone he is the best i think the claw wont transform and is jsut a way for the wherewolof to show the other person what they suffered or went through. mark awesome review :)
Thanks, Ronald! I do my best and I agree with your statement on Jackson trying to prove something to this absent figure. To possibly show that person that I was the best thing you ever created and you gave me away. It's a tragic story and it strangely reminds me of my favorite Fresh Prince of Bel Air episode where Will's dad left him again at the end of the episode.
what was uncle peter's and derek's plan involving jackson near the end of episode 10? i'm trying to figure it out, but i don't understand what they want to do with jackson… at first i thought that they wanted to bite him so that he could become part of the pack… but then i thought he wanted to kill him? Now im thinking that the plan originally was to bite jackson so that he could become part of the pack…. then jackson said 'something' (i dont know what… that made derek mad and want to kill him.. please comment on your thoughts and answers of whats going on!
I want to know more about what Scott said to Jackson near the end of Episode 9."Only the Alpha can turn people into Werewolves."(NOT his exact Words) However, when i went to the MTV website to watch on of the bonus Clips, "Search for a Cure" a doctor who use to research werewolves said there were 3 types of wolves. The Alphas(Peter Hale),Betas (Scott&Derek), and Omegas(?) being the lowest class of wolves. After hearing that, and being the loser Fan that i am, lol jk. i did research on it, and it's said only Betas can make Omegas. So i'm thinkin what Scott said was a either a Blooper or Lie. And if it was a lie, does that mean Jackson will (slowly)turn from Derek's claw wound, or just does he still need to be bitten? I would like to hear your input on this because this is what is truly wrecking my mind.
@Jairus, you bring up a great point. My thing about "Search For A Cure" is that it doesn't seem to factor at all with the main show, but it should in some instances, given that Jeff Davis (who is the man behind the show) also wrote and shot the webisodes. Something tells me that this will all be explained in the last two episodes and it may have something to do with Jackson, or maybe someone else…
