10 Things You Didn’t Know about Taissa Farmiga

It might be kind of hard to think of who Taissa Farmiga is unless you’ve watched American Horror Story. She’s been in several other productions but this is where she’s really managed to shine in the last decade and where a lot of fans might recognize her from since she was one of the main characters in two seasons. She’s proven that she’s got a lot of talent and is steadily building in her reputation as she continues to move along, but it would seem that unless she finds a way to stand out that she might have to wait her turn. Hopefully it won’t come to that since she is talented and has more range than some of her parts would indicate. But there is always room to improve as many actors have known and learned by this point and in the future it seems fair to say that we’ll be seeing a lot of her in different roles.

Here are a few things that some folks might not have known about her.

10. She knows American Sign Language.

For those of you that don’t know ASL is more than just waggling your fingers and moving your hands hoping that someone will understand you. Taissa studied ASL for three years so it’s fair to say that if she still practices it that she’s pretty good.

9. She was in American Horror Story, Murder House, Coven, and Roanoke.

Coven was her most prevalent season since she was front and center for most of it and was considered to be one of the most important characters since she was one of the witches. She came back Roanoke but didn’t get much of a part, plus she suffered pretty horrendous death scene.

8. She loves the outdoors.

Taissa is big into getting out and doing things outdoors as she likes to stay active and keep herself in good shape. She’s not the type to sit around and do nothing most of the time as she has a wide array of hobbies.

7. She’s the younger sister of Vera Farmiga.

There’s a span of 21 years between them but she and her sister are still very close. It was Vera that helped Taissa get into acting by putting her in the film Higher Ground in 2011. The two of them are known to spend a good deal of time together.

6. She can play the guitar.

This almost feels like it might be just a hobby, but an interesting one, since there’s no mention of her being a songwriter or in a band of any type. But a skill is a skill and it’s always nice to have a few things you can be good at.

5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of her favorite films.

You can give her bonus points for having good taste in movies as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of the classics that a lot of people can agree with. In fact it happens to be on the list of favorites for a lot of individuals, stars included.

4. She’s starring in The Nun.

The Conjuring films have been on a roll since they got going and they’ve just been getting darker and darker as time has gone on. This one will be going way back, further than Annabelle and the Conjuring, to when the demonic nun was apparently not yet known to anyone outside the church. Just looking at the trailer it already promises to be something uniquely frightening, though the Conjuring fans there’s likely going to be a lot of chances to pick it apart just because they are fans.

3. She gets scared easily.

Taissa has openly admitted that she gets scared pretty easily and can’t just sit down to watch a horror film. One might assume that this is kind of odd considering the type of TV show she’s starred in and the movie that shows her being stalked by a shadowy nun. But it goes without saying that being in the movie versus being forced to watch the movie is probably a very different experience. On the one hand you’re not quite as scared since you have to do take after take and it gets repetitive, on the other hand you have no idea what’s coming until you watch the movie.

2. Originally she had no plans to be an actress.

Her big sister Vera was a big reason why she became an actress since she saw something in Taissa that made her think that this might be the right course for her. It does help having family in the business, especially if they’ve got enough pull to make it possible for other family members to get a shot at something like this.

1. She wanted to be a veterinarian at one point.

It seems that a lot of people want to be vets as kids, almost as though it’s a phase we all have to go through.

Hopefully The Nun will be one of those movies that sets her on the track towards being a widely recognized superstar.
