Last summer I wrote an article telling you all the ways to stream Preacher. This year, the second season will be rolling out on Sunday, June 23 at 10 p.m. ET (same time slot) and there are even more ways that you can stream Preacher. This is not surprising when you consider that Preacher was one of the most popular cable dramas last year.
For those of you who are new to Preacher, I highly recommend catching up with Season 1 before you delve into this new season. For those who need a refresher, Preacher is based on a comic series from DC/Vertigo about a preacher named Jesse Custer. Custer is from a small town in Texas. He has an experience with an entity and when all is said and done he comes out with some unique powers. After this experience, he decides to team with an Irish Vampire and his ex-girlfriend on a quest to find God. Preacher, when in season, airs weekly on Sunday nights on AMC.
In the original article, I mentioned all the ways available to watch Preacher online. In terms of cable subscribers or people seeking free episodes, you still have the option of AMC.com. If you have cable, you’ll have access right away, but if you are looking for free episodes it might take longer for those to be available.
Some other streaming options include Sling TV and PlayStation Vue. Both of these services offer something worth mentioning. For Sling TV, it’s the price. You can get AMC and 30 other channels each month for $20/month. They even offer a week free to try out Sling TV! As for PlayStation Vue, the benefit comes in a few places. For starters, you get 45 channels for $30/month. Next you get a free cloud-based DVR, so if you’re not home to watch Preacher, you can record it and watch it when you have time!
A new streaming service is available in the form of DIRECTV NOW. The benefit to DIRECTV NOW is that it looks a lot like cable, but doesn’t cost nearly as much. Packages include anywhere from 60 to 120 channels and start at $35/month. You can add HBO for $5/month, which is the cheapest option available. DIRECTV NOW streams on all major streaming devices including Roku. They also offer a 7-day trial.
In terms of actual streaming services, DIRECTV NOW is the only new kid on the block. You can also choose to buy your episodes/season and bypass any type of subscription service. The benefit to buying episodes is that you don’t need to worry about watching the live stream. Episodes are available or delivered to your library (if you order the season pass) the day after the episodes’ air on TV. So, in the case of Preacher, episodes would be available on Monday.
You can watch on a variety of streaming devices, which generally depends on the service you use. Some popular options, like Amazon Instant Video and Vudu work on all the major devices, and sell episodes for under $3 (less if you buy the season pass).
So, that’s it. If you want to watch the second season of Preacher, it begins on Sunday, June 23 at 10 p.m. ET. The streaming methods are still the same, though there are a few more. The important thing is that you’ve got options. There are plenty of ways to watch Preacher streaming, and that can only be a good thing!
