There are so many amazing videos out there that simply don’t get their due. I just came across this gem which was released over two months ago on Vimeo. Don’t get me wrong. It’s gotten a whopping 153K views but somehow I never heard of it which tells me that millions of others haven’t either. This is the kind of video that deserves to be on National Geographic or The Discovery Channel ASAP. It’s a steadicam shot of a free diver going through an underwater cave.
It makes you realize that no matter how many great special effects movies have, sometimes nothing can compare to real life mother nature. In this awesome clip videographer Justin David goes caving with Kimi Werner. For those who don’t know Kimi, she’s about as hardcore an ocean lover as they come. Kimi has gone on to become the United States National Spearfishing Champion, a certified culinary chef, an award winning artist and a sought after speaker.
As a young child growing up off the grid in an isolated part of coastal Maui, she floated behind her father as he freedove for her family’s primary food source. Only later as an adult on Oahu did she understand the central role the ocean was to play in her life when she discovered her own passion for free diving.
For those interested, the song is “Another Day” by Air.
