Thank GOD for SGU: Kino webisodes…
SyFy pulled a fast one on us and preempted the first part of the SGU season finale till next week. While most people are getting over their anger by rewatching the entire first season up to the finale (which is NOT a bad idea, IMHO), I have decided to finally recap the two new Kino webisodes to quench your (and my) thirst of SGU dehydration. Let’s begin with Webisode #25 “Drop The ‘Sirs’.”
Webisode #25: Drop The ‘Sirs’
This webisode might calm the (logic) nerves of a lot of fans since it deals with the glaringly missing reactions from Greer and Scott after they reunited on the Destiny when they got separated on the planet. A lot of people voiced their opinions on how Greer didn’t seem at all perturbed when Chloe, Scott, and Eli returned, but was previously bothered by the separation at the end of “Lost”. We all know that when the impromptu reunion happened that the Destiny was in the middle of a crisis, putting dramatic character study on the back burner for later. Well, the pot has cooked and it’s ready to be served.
Scott finds Greer in the mess hall where he tries to engage in friendly banter with his comrade, asking the Sgt. to ‘drop the sirs’. Greer still keeps it formal with “Lt.” The Kino skips into Scott saying he wants to clear the air with Greer on the planet situation, but Greer says that isn’t necessary, because it was Scott’s duty to protect Chloe and Eli. Scott continues to explain himself, but Greer claims that if Scott had of tried to rescue him, even if it was just the two of them, it would’ve been stupid. Greer then goes on to explain that Scott’s only bond he needs to remember is to carry out his orders and lead, which pretty much entails not letting feelings get in the way and not having any doubt in his decisions. Greer then closes his speech with that he will always follow orders without a hitch and that Scott shouldn’t worry about trying to make things right, because Greer never lost any sleep over it. After the two have a chuckle, Scott asks Greer how many officers has he trained and Greer responds “Only the ones that I liked.” Hm.
Webisode 26: Like A Hug
In this particular webisode, an incident from the episode “Sabotage’ was touched on, which was when TJ walked in on Rush and Dr. Perry/Camile, an issue that people were up in arms about during the episode’s production.
The Kino finds TJ talking with Dr. Park about walking in on Dr. Rush and Dr. Perry embracing intimately. Dr. Park reminds TJ that Camile signed over her body in the waiver, but TJ still wonders if she should tell Camile. Dr. Park then offers that maybe TJ should confront Dr. Rush and have him tell Camile instead. TJ agrees. Then the two women begin gossiping about Dr. Rush actually having a tender side, which they start to find more intriguing since they don’t see what the hell Dr. Perry sees in him.
So what did you guys think of the webisodes? Did they solve some mysteries for you? Ease some concerns? Speak out below!
And don’t forget that SGU returns tonight with part one of it’s first season finale, “Incursion”, on SyFy!
