Star Wars: Who is Jango Fett? Five Things You Didn’t Know

Who is Jango Fett? WHO IS JANGO FETT??? Sorry, I get a bit worked up when people ask questions that are known us Star Wars nerds. After all Jango Fett is, or was, one of the premiere bounty hunters in the Star Wars galaxy before Boba Fett was even able to don his iconic armor. He taught Boba nearly everything he knows and was the only figure in Boba’s life that did anything to really help him grow. He was a hard man and at times was even extremely dismissive of his ‘son’, but throughout everything he was a legend that was taken out by an opponent that was still superior to him in many ways.

Jango Fett was the man that Boba could have become had he managed to survive the battle on Geonosis. Yes, I am a Star Wars nerd.

5. There’s a lot of controversy regarding his status as a Mandalorian.

Despite his claim that he was born on Concord Dawn, a world that lies within Mandalorian space, there was never any confirmation of this and as a result the Mandalorian government never recognized Jango as one of their own. They accused him of stealing their reputation and using their armor to become one of the most notorious bounty hunters in the galaxy.

4. He associated with the likes of Aurra Sing.

To those that know, Aurra Sing is one of the absolute deadliest adversaries in the known galaxy and has gone toe to toe with Jedi in the past and has walked away. Her tactics and her ferocity were only ever matched by a small handful of people, a few of them being Jedi, and few others being regular bounty hunters that were a little more crafty than she was. Jango Fett is included in this number.

3. He was recruited by Darth Tyranus to be the template for the clone army.

Darth Tyranus, as a lot of us know by now, was Count Dooku. Given that he had the financial means and the lack of any moral restraint Dooku took it upon himself to recruit the supposedly best bounty hunter in the galaxy to create his clone army. Of course the part about being the best in the galaxy was highly subjective but Jango was the one that got the job.

2. Jango Fett has used his son Boba as bait in the past.

Jango never was the overly sentimental type. He cared for Boba but also wanted him to be strong and to learn the ways of the warrior. This meant that he would leave him in situations that seemed far too dangerous for the young boy but were still controlled enough that the risk was acceptable Jango as he would always find a way to protect Boba.

1. Boba was his price for allowing his genetics to be used as the template for the clone army.

This and the 20 million credits that Dooku offered was his price to be more exact. He had little to nothing to do with the training of the clones and was considered to be little more than the copy that would give rise to the new army. Actual Mandalorians were brought in to train the troops and they wanted little to nothing to do with Jango.

Now you know. Boba Fett has a definite reason for hating the Jedi, since they took the only person he cared for at that point in his life.
