If you don’t know who Theo Epstein is then you probably don’t follow sports and that’s OK. He’s currently the President of Operations for the Chicago Cubs and is widely considered to be one of the best builders of baseball teams in MLB history. He rose to prominence as the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox where he helped architect teams that would go on to win 2 championships and reach the play offs nearly every year he was the GM.
Last year as everyone knows, the Chicago Cubs won the world series. Guess who was responsible for building that team? You guessed it. Theo Epstein. Given that it’s now college graduation season you’re going to be seeing a lot of celebrities and high profile names give commencement speeches.
Of all the speeches I’ve seen so far this spring, Epstein’s is by far the best and is going to be awfully difficult to top. No disrespect to Will Ferrell by the way. His USC speech was great.
