There’s never been anyone like and chances are there won’t be when he’s gone either. There will be plenty of people that will come and go and do great and wonderful things but the kind of man you find in a guy like Steven Spielberg is something unique and special that most people might see once in a lifetime. It’s subjective of course, but the documentary of Steven Spielberg that will be airing on HBO will be a look into the man that has managed to bring forth some of the most iconic and important movies of our culture over the last few decades.
There’s almost an electric charge that runs through your body when you hear the name ‘Spielberg’. When that name pops up anywhere near a motion picture you get the idea that something good and inevitably special is about to happen. He’s been connected to so many different blockbuster movies that his career has been nothing short of impressive and even legendary at this point. As of now he’s going to be taking over the CEO position of Amblin Entertainment, a company he’s been working with for years now, but people are always going to remember him as one of the absolute greatest directors that ever lived.
This documentary will give an inside look to the man that has helped to change and revolutionize the way that films are made and has brought so much inherent joy to movie goers all over the world. It’s interesting to learn that at one time he wanted to enroll at USC for their film program but just couldn’t make it because of his grades. There might be arguments made at this point that thanks to his genius Spielberg wasn’t a bad student, he was just gifted. That old chestnut just doesn’t fly anymore however since great or pitiful, students who are educated tend to have a slightly easier time on average breaking into any industry than students who are not.
Obviously he didn’t allow this to hamper him though as he found a way to make his name known and show his vision on the big screen eventually. It was believed at one point that Jaws was going to flop mercilessly, but on its opening night the film was sold out. In fact it became one of the most well loved shows of all time even despite the fact that it caused widespread paranoia and fear of sharks. Like a lot of Spielberg’s movies it struck a cord deep inside the human psyche that made it possible to be afraid of something that held no fear for many people until they’d seen the movie.
This is the kind of effect that Spielberg’s movies have on people, and not just movie goers. Many upon many actors have wanted to work with him in the past and even now. Whether he’s a fair-handed person or just works well with others is not really known but the chance to work with Spielberg is something that has set a lot of actors in his path.
